Quest Failed: Chapter Two - Dev Log #124

Heya there, everyone! I hope you're doing well! I'm back again--a touch earlier this time, to make up for previous delays--to bring you another exciting, action-packed dev log, yay!

So, I want to kick things off with the status of the next alpha build. I'm happy to say that most of the writing has been done for this build, with just a few stray little scenes here and there remaining. The main bulk of the work will now be to start preparing it all to be actually playable. Since writing it all is one thing--but then scripting out all of the necessary sprite and CG interactions is another thing, and can get quite daunting at times. Especially with the more complex CG pieces and sprites that have their expressions cut up between separate eyebrow, eyes and mouth layers. It gives a far greater degree of control when deciding what expressions to use, but gosh does it get draining sometimes.

But--this will be the main grind for the next few days. At the very least--it's not necessarily creative work like the writing, so I can just put some music in the background and get to it without many roadblocks. It's kind of mindless work you can zone out, and be done before you know it. So I'm hoping that portion of the alpha build work will fly by!

As a result--it's looking like I might bleed into August with the release of this build, but I'll honour anyone who processed this month just because I feel it's more fair that way. So keep a hold of your links, as I'm sure they'll come in handy!

Who knows--with this extra time, I might even be able to get the second new h-scene in the build fully voiced! Since I'll be looking to get that all edited and sent to the VA in the coming days, too.

My planned workload for the next few days aside--I suppose I should talk about the attached image too, huh? As promised, for this week's dev log, I wanted to showcase another fun CG scene you can expect out of the game. And since I know I don't tease too much explicit stuff these days, I figured this one would be a real treat!

This is a fun little scene you can potentially have with the scrappy woof-girl Kassandra once you've grown close enough to her, where she decides to mix up her acts of affection towards Matt and use that long, slobbery tongue of hers to bathe something else in her drool rather than just his face. And as you can see from the copious amounts of slobbery woof drool running down it, she really does go to town on that thing!

The aim of this scene was to basically take the loving affection that dogs might show their owners, and, uh, well--give it something of an erotic twist. Initially Kassandra only had two h-scenes, one that involved her first, ferocious encounter with Matt, and then the second utilizing some fluffy paws, but I decided it was a crime that there wasn't anything where that big tongue of hers wasn't put to use. And so, this small scene came to be--featuring a smaller cut-in frame in order to be fast and efficient to create, with an emphasis on a short and sweet scene that doesn't last too long, but still leaves something of an impact. There aren't too many cut-in scenes like this of course--so don't worry, the large majority of h-scenes will still be full-screen, and full-lengthy (at the expense of my poor hands writing out so many words). But I hope you'll like it when you get a chance to experience this scrappy pooch's love for yourself! Awoooo~!

This will be the last dev log for the month, so I want to mention that due to a change in Patreon's manager system, I might be a little slower to send rewards out than I usually am, come the third of next month. I'm sure I'll still be able to get them out on the day, but I'll have to navigate more strange and unfamiliar menus, opposed to how simple it used to be to see who had processed or not. Ahhh--why must things always change? I'm too old for change!
