End of month update! (Concerning alpha build and general posts)

Heya there, guys! This isn't quite a full dev log just yet, but gosh, the weeks have just whooooooshed on by, huh? Faster than a drunken spy in search of more booze!

I wanted to make this post as we're on the edge of the September--and realise it's been a little while since I've last posted, and just wanted to assure you all that I'm still alive and kicking! I've just been super busy with things, and felt if I went into the dev logs, my attention on writing would be taken away from where it was most important.

I also realise that I need to find a better balance for this, and that the last couple of months have been lacking in terms of posts--and I deeply apologise for this. When I get hyper-focused on something, the days just seem to blur together and before I know it, it's already October. Ahhhh...

Rest assured though, I've been putting that time to good use!

I'm happy to say that there's now just two short scenes I need to finish for the pending alpha build--and then some of the technical stuff like sprite directions, and such, and then everything should come together. It's been a journey, to say the least--and the story stuff I just wrapped up ended up WAY longer than I anticipated. The skeleton of an outline I had made it look like it would be much shorter to flesh out--but goodness, I guess I was just feeling extra inspired, as the dialogue really came together, along with all the fun story CG moments--one of which I'll be sharing in the first dev log to come next month! Ren and Cynthia fans won't want to miss this tease for sure!

As per previous months, anyone who has pledged in the alpha tier before will still find their old link will be updated when the new build comes out--as I've always said it's never my intention to scam or mislead people into when it might come out. I think I just...need to avoid saying when I think the next build will come out until like 90% of the writing is done next time. I greatly overestimated the speed at which I'd put this all together--and for that, I profusely apologise. These last couple of months have been pretty crappy in that regard, and I want to do better.

That said--I'm really happy with everything that's going into this build, and didn't want to cut any of the dramatic moments short like I did in a previous build. It would have been REALLY easy, too, to reach a "to be continued" moment--but that's just far too cruel. I want you to experience this defining moment in all of its glory without splintered progression, and I want there to be a good few extra h-scenes to enjoy, too. Perhaps my stubbornness here of wanting things to be extra special for this particular build has resulted in these delays though--and I'll try to strike a better balance moving forward, with the few story scenes that are left after, and the h-scenes.

For those of you that have stuck by me, and continue to believe and support me--I thank you very much. And for those that I've disappointed, I apologise again, and hope that the new build will be worth it. I don't want to sound like a broken record now...but...I sincerely believe you'll feel it will have been worth the wait!

Also, October should be a fun month, as I revel in the spookiness of it all, and if all goes to plan I should have a couple of next Halloween-esque illustrations to showcase over the course of the month! Maybe while I take a small break after the release of the alpha, I can fit in a short story or two as well--as those are a fun way to take a break from QF writing, and you guys really seemed to enjoy the demon queen story!

Thanks again for your support, and give me just a little more time to get things in order--and look forward to dev logs next month! As always, I'll be happy to answer any questions in the comments, Pms, email, or even Discord if you're there. I'd be happy to hear from you for sure!

Until next time, and let's welcome October in style~

I'm glad then--as long as people aren't left worrying about if I've upped and bolted away or not, haha. That's always my main concern! I'd definitely like to get back on track with things once the build is out though. It's just been consuming my life for long, like a mini game in itself, haha. Ahhhh

Personally, I don't really mind if updates are a little more infrequent. Obviously they're good to have and I wouldn't want complete silence, but I've heard it can be taxing on creators to put a lot of effort into updates alongside the effort they already put into just creating. Don't go getting too stressed out now, alright?
