Quest Failed - February Rewards Sent Out! + Small Dev Update
Added 2024-02-04 00:28:10 +0000 UTCHiya there, everyone! Hope you're doing well and 2024 is continuing to treat you well~
We're into February now--the season of love~ Just who will be featured in the upcoming Valentines art? Taking all bets now!
This is just a quick post as is tradition now at the start of each month to inform you all that everything has been sent out, including the following rewards for each tier:
$10 tier - Quest Failed: Chapter One (Version 1.1)
$15 tier - High Resolution Bonus Art (Featuring Ruby in a chinese-styled dress, rawr~)
$25 tier - Quest Failed: Chapter Two Alpha (0.14)
If you feel you were entitled to a reward but have yet to receive it due to late processing, or some other error which may or may not have been my fault, please don't hesitate to reach out and I'll try to help you as soon as I can!
I also want to apologise for things being fairly sparse for January. The beginning of my own year was far more chaotic than I would have liked with some worrying news dropped on me in regards to a hospitalised relative, but things are thankfully resolved and doing better on that front.
And as I get back into the flow of it all, I realise that everything I wanted to include in the next alpha build is maybe resulting in things dragging out far longer than I would have liked. I'll try to push ahead with this and have a dev log--but the longer time between dev logs is just because the closer we get to the end of the game, the less I have to show that hasn't already been seen multiple times over without dipping into the super spoilery stuff I wanted to keep a fun surprise, haha. It becomes a bit of a challenge and it frustrates me that I have so much stuff built up for Chapter 3 already on the side in terms of assets which will be really fun to show the moment Chapter 2 is done. It's just getting to that big point.
So I guess I'll ask what you guys might want to see in regards to development personally, and what aspects you've enjoyed from past dev logs.
In the meantime, I'm going to try to push past some of the mental barriers on some of the current scenes I'm writing, try not to worry about them being 'perfect' and forge on ahead. Sometimes our minds are our own worst enemies I think, haha. Ahhh. The short stories I post consistently are a result of me just writing from a stream of consciousness, and I think they get a little messy in terms of how they flow, but at the same time, there's something satisfying in completing something brief in a day and just throwing it up out there. Whereas the script writing for the visual novel I end up overthinking things a lot I think and second-guessing myself, getting lost in my own head. I want to try and become as carefree with that as I am with the short stories to rapidly build up progress.
Once I finish the current h-scene I'm writing, I'll have another dev log up, to hopefully gauge where I'm at with the current build, what's left to do, and if we feel I should potentially cut things short just to get something new to play out for the month, rather than try to have it hit the ending. Or if reaching the ending in this build will be achievable as I first wanted! (Because that possibility has been on my mind, due to all the h-scenes I have done already, and feel bad that things are stalling because I'm getting caught up on others. As I really like the writing done in the currently done h-scenes, along with all the story stuff between!)
Sorry for the little ramble--but I guess I just wanted to assure you all that things are still moving along, and I'm still here. I'll always be here. Forever. And ever. And ever. And ever. Jiiiiiiiiii

Definitely fun points I could touch on! Admittedly those were the kinds of things I wanted to explore fully once I could safely say Chapter 2 is finished, but I've had a lot on my mind for sure about the future of QF and how I'd want to mix up its development to avoid falling into the same pitfalls I have with Chapter 2.

2024-02-13 01:13:42 +0000 UTCI could definitely try to do that--even if it got a bit rambly, haha. Since writing is just a very personal thing to me rather than a mere job to be tackled, I guess I end up fretting over it a lot more than I should!

2024-02-13 01:12:39 +0000 UTCI think sharing how you feel about an almost decade long project coming to a close, and what showing how your writing has changed from the beginning to now. You could also talk about any changes you wanna make going from chapter 2 to 3.

2024-02-12 10:30:02 +0000 UTCfor what I like in seeing for development, I suppose I'm interested with what you're seeking with your writing and why you feel you are struggling in getting it. I guess that might be a bit spoilerly if its a specific roadblock but I'm curious even if the response will be a bit vague.
