Attack on Titan SEASON FINALE eps 30! We just completed our very first anime series!

Comments

Also, Happy belated Birthday, Regie!!🥳🎉

storitella

Agree 💯!! Eren’s reputation in their world (& with the audience) is larger than life by that point in the plot, so reminding us he’s just an average teenager at his core really hammers the impact of what’s happening. It’s heart-crushing!

storitella

This anime should be watched by leaders so they can visualize what they're doing wrong. We've been really political, but we haven't really focused on religion that much. You know how in AOT, they keep saying that Eldians are sinners because of what their ancestors did? In Christianity, this is similar with Original sin that we supposedly share because of Adam and Eve. (Remember that illustration of Ymir or a lady holding a fruit and there's a devil?) And then we have the destruction of heaven and earth accg to the Bible. So many things that can be a topic of discussion. Didn't mean to be so political and biblical, but thought I shared this. Thank you Isayama sensei for this story! There are many animes out there, but AOT is one of those that will be timeless. 👏👏👏 Congratulations Jas and Heather in completing your first anime! Should be the only one scratched off ur poster, but u guys Fudged that up. Lol 😂😂 just kidding! love u guys!!

Regie Khemvisay

Because I fear I won't be able to make it to the live discussion, imma put my thoughts here and there in the comments. I love Eren and is my fave character in the series. And definitely one of the MC in animeverse that I will never forget. His character arc is amazing. While I can't justify the 80% he destroyed (because I really doubt he did, coz the heck, does he have power of census? And isn't Marley closest to Paradis? Ain't no way we get to Marley in a few hours in time to stop the rumbling and have 80% destroyed already? I know it's been days since rumbling but we're only getting to Marley now? If anyone can justify that, please do so I can stop my conspiracy theory lol)

Regie Khemvisay

Ppl complaining OP is so long, while here I am fearing the time its not TO BE CONTINUED on that screen but THE END like we've seen here on AOT. It can go for 2k episodes and I won't complain. I just wanna know the One Piece before I die tho.

Regie Khemvisay

Honestly, the villain in this story is King Fritz. Hate that guy lol

Regie Khemvisay

Good thoughts ALHasdffgg! (But dammit, ur name was hard to type lol) What I thought of that last conversation with Eren and Armin is them as two teenagers that they are. It seemed like out of place right? But I think that was the intention. What I would've loved to see maybe was Armin's monologue answering questions or explaining things. We got one from Historia, but I wished we got more from Armin.

Regie Khemvisay

What I'm bitter about is the warrior Eldians in Marley got to have a happy ending with their families. Meanwhile our crew are all orphans, except for Connie having his mom. I love that for him. And that Levi is alive giving out lollipops. Few reasons I'm happy with the ending

Regie Khemvisay

Nami swan! Yesss! Petition to have an alternate universe where these kids' problem is homework and tests.

Regie Khemvisay

Also the part where he said he's just an idiot with power really hit hard. Like don't say that about u! There were people in power who made terrible decisions and were either just watched for hate to continue. He had to make a decision and that was the last resort. If he didn't do anything with that power, who knows what happens after his death. Everything will be for naught. Also, i think the reason he said that is to remind us that Eren was only 19. That last scene where he said he didn't wanna die broke me bcoz he is just a teenager. I honestly need an alternate universe where they are happy so I'm not a total mess whenever I rewatch this masterpiece.

Regie Khemvisay

Missed u Heather! Yes, mine too! I held it in for so long but when they hugged, I lost it. and then when he cried when he saw his head, ughh, I was ballin my eyes out.

Regie Khemvisay

It's so much better on the second and third and fourth watch :)

Regie Khemvisay

I think everyone's choice contributed as to why Eren's last option was the 80%. That's why Historia's monologue was one of my fave part of the ending. It's so easy to blame one person rather than the collective decisions of each person in power that led to one thing to the other. I could never come up with the alternative. And I didn't like the Euthanasia one either bcoz it's accepting the fact that all Eldians are all evil and shouldn't exist. It's such a masterpiece that you can discuss with ppl and is very thought provoking.

Regie Khemvisay

I think the next anime after AoT you should react to is "Frieren: Beyond Journeys End". It's one of the best pieces of Media I've ever seen and story telling is on the same level as AoT, imo.

Animeter

When Attack on Titan ended there were some people who didn’t like the ending while i was just glad that Levi didn’t die.

Freshingredient

So the age old question. 80% of humanity or the euthanization plan of the Eldians? Or is there another option that would have helped in the end? With what Eren was dealing plusthe impending Marley invasion, it's always interesting to ask the question of what would "you" do in Eren's shoes. Even Armin wanted to do a mini rumbling which would have massacred probably millions of people just as a deterrent of invaders. Such a deep manga/anime and definitely a 10/10 and one of the greatest of all time in my humble opinion. You guys finished one of the best, so I'd recommend tempering expectations with any new anime you guys decide to finish.

Mario Prime Plays

Wow, when you put it that way LC21 it kinda gets ya choked up!😢😢❤️ They do say, all good things must come to an end!?!? But we don’t want it too!😆😆💔💔

Jason DeVan

So good!!! Some of the best writing you’ll find! The ending was INCREDIBLE 🤯🤯❤️❤️

Jason DeVan

Incredible ❤️❤️👍👍

Jason DeVan

Thank you Josh! Very well put! We absolutely loved the ending! It made us appreciate the journey even more!🤯🤯 Sending you lots of love and can’t wait to do a live discussion on discord at some point!🤗❤️

Jason DeVan

Thanks usman! It was sooo good! Can’t wait to do a discord chat with everyone 👍😊❤️

Jason DeVan

Straight Masterpiece 😎👍💯❤️

Jason DeVan

Ahhh, yes Heather you are exactly right! It was the comparison of the two shows and how the endings were received! It was incredible story telling from start to finish! But it was the ending that did it for me! We weee blown away!🤯😊❤️

Jason DeVan

We did miss you Heather!☺️☺️ Could agree more. The scene between Eren and Armin! Just wow! But the depth that went into Mikasa and Eren, with Ymir! 🤯 straight jaw dropping! I cannot wait to have a discussion about the love story that I didn’t see coming and our views on everything! I could easily start to ramble on but I’ll save it for the discussion 😆 Hope all is well, and hope you and Jayton had a great Halloween! ❤️❤️🤗🤗

Jason DeVan

Congrats on finishing your first anime!!! That was an incredible reaction, definitely very emotional. I’m so happy you guys loved the ending. I have so much to say so I’ll save my long comment for whenever you do your AOT special, I can’t wait!

Esteban Padilla

Congratulations on finishing your first anime!! Now, regarding the hate for the ending, it's complicated... The manga had a different ending that was kinda fixed in the anime, but the anime itself had many issues regarding release times for the seasons, people had to wait too much time from season 1 to season 2 and for some reason they started advertising the "last season" for like 4 or 5 regular seasons just by saying "last season part 1" "last season part 2" "last season part 3 part 1", etc. I think by the time the actual ending of the anime aired, people just didn't believe it was real anymore and they felt mostly lied to. Now that I watched this for the second time with you nakamas, it is soooo much better when you don't have to wait years to see it in all it's glory. XD

Potzi

I think you guys heard about the ending comparisons to GOT back when it was mentioned in the comments of AOT S1. A bunch of us were explaining who Isayama is & his love-hate relationship with the AOT fandom. When the manga ended, it had wildly mixed reactions from the fandom, & some crucial moments weren’t well conveyed or translated. When the anime aired, slight changes were made that immensely improved the clarity of the narrative & reinforce certain themes in better ways. However, it’s the mixed reactions over the ending from a toxic fandom (that sent numerous death threats to him & his staff) which caused Isayama to publicly apologize for the ending. It’s really a shame, cuz AOT is a brilliant story from beginning to end.

storitella

Congrats on completing your first anime!!🥳 I know I’ve been M.I.A. for a bit, but we had to watch this reaction! It’s quite the explosive end to a series. Since you’re going to discuss more with a live chat on Discord, I’ll save my main comments for that. But I will say, my favorite scene is Eren & Armin walking & talking in the Paths. So many emotional confessions, & the moments when they speak honestly about their thoughts… there’s a realism in their confessions that emulates those inner truths people think but dare not say aloud. Especially Eren’s admission of his shortcomings, that he’s just an average person who happened to wield omnipotent power. He just couldn’t fathom a better solution than the reality they ended up with. But the ending of that scene, where Armin promises to meet Eren in hell together, made a perfect conclusion for their friendship. I teared up just like Heather!💕

storitella

yes, there's a large group of fans who wanted a happy ending... but there's another half who see the illogical reasons presented. the reason why ymir didn't kill the king after all that torture was illogical. and why eren did all this because he was 'stupid' is also illogical. also, how could armin calm eren down when he mentioned killing his mother, but then punched him when eren said he didn't know what he would do with mikasa? It's as if his mother's life was less important than mikasa's. and saying he's a slave to freedom? Those two words contradict each other!, I think the writer wanted this epic ending that we saw, but they didn't provide the appropriate reasons. the ending was great, but the core of the story was destroyed in the ten-minute conversation between eren and armin. It was supposed to explain so much, but the explanations were simply not good enough. After all those emotions, even after eren's death, i laughed and was angry at the same time at the explanations and asked, 'Is this really the answer we were waiting for? (this is just my opinion)

ALHasdffgg

Attack on Titan is truly a masterpiece. The storytelling was out of this world, and the ending is perfect and so realistic.

Cattt

This ending was a masterpiece and totally fitting for the show, the main reason that ppl disliked the ending for this show is because eren and mikasa dont get a true happy ending which going off the theme of the show alot of us knew wasnt going to happen. Regardless another great reaction and congrats on finishing your first anime!!!

usman

Glad you guys loved it :) and you picked up on all the messages perfectly. From my understanding the people who say the ending is “bad” comes from 2 places. First is the dialogue in the manga was phrased poorly in some scenes (specifically armin and Eren talking in the sea of blood) and was tightened up in the anime. The other reason some don’t like the ending or say it’s “bad” is the group of fans who (maybe from their own life experiences) came to the conclusion that “Eren was right” and had thought and wanted it to end with Eren finishing the rumbling and going back to the island as a king living with remorse. For me? I thought it was perfect and laid out all the messages we needed to take away. And I’m glad you guys enjoyed it just as much as so many of us did! Love you guys as always and let’s spread that love as best we can, regardless of belief on the ending or anything ❤️❤️❤️

Josh Stewart

Such a good series. So Eren said it was Mikasa who freed Ymir. Even though she loved him, she’s the one who eventually killed Eren. Ymir was there and witnessed that as well as Mikasa kissing him. She had held onto her love for King Fritz the 2,000 years so watching Mikasa do what she did allowed her to finally let go and be free. Because of Mikasas actions, the Power of the Titans stopped existing because Ymir finally chose to let go of King Fritz. Such a good ending honestly

Eric Barnett

isn't the writing amazing? it should inspire filmmakers. anime is culture too

Leandrorr

I just want you guys to imagine the ending for One Piece now that you've finished this masterpiece. Having 100s of characters we know and love having this own finale will be historic!
