I didn’t comment much at the start of this arc since I don’t want to spoil anything while you’re still catching up with WCI. But I can share why Sanji has such a special place in my heart. I honestly love all the Straw Hats, just a tiny bit more for the monster trio—and within that trio, Sanji’s always been the one for me. From the moment he showed up at the Baratie, I was hooked. His hair, his style, the way he fights using only his legs like a dance, and his sharp humor all left such a big impression.
Sanji and Zoro are both badass, but in such different ways. Zoro is straightforward—determined, loyal, strong-willed, and driven. Sanji’s more complicated. He’s full of contradictions, with a harsh exterior but a gentle, compassionate heart. He dreams big but chained himself at the Baratie because he felt indebted to Zeff. He chose morals over dreams. He’s kind through his actions but sharp with his words. And even in the worst situations, he holds himself back—refusing to fight with his hands or ever hit a woman. To some people that makes him confusing, but for me it makes him one of the most fascinating and human characters in One Piece.
People love to dismiss him as just a simp or a pervert, but that really misses the point. Despite those quirks, he has a huge female fanbase, especially in Japan. Japanese fans there saw early on how layered he is. As far back as 2007, Japanese fan comics and fics were already capturing sides of his character that the main story hadn’t even shown yet. What used to be just speculation ended up being proven right when WCI came around.
Some also say Sanji doesn’t get along with Zoro, but I don’t see it that way. Their relationship actually reminds me a lot of his bond with Zeff. Both Zoro and Zeff are grumpy, blunt, and harsh with their words, but caring in their actions. Neither of them calls him by his real name—Zeff goes with “eggplant,” and Zoro just throws around a bunch of nicknames. It’s tough love, and that’s exactly how Sanji bonds with people he really trusts. Their constant bickering isn’t hatred at all—it’s almost family-like, built on unspoken trust. Maybe Zoro is the easiest one for him to get along with, because he is used to that dynamic from his time with Zeff.
After WCI, my love for Sanji only grew even deeper. No spoilers, but the struggles he faces and how he grows through them just made him unforgettable. That’s why he’ll always be my favorite: complex, contradictory, compassionate, sometimes frustrating—but always, always unforgettable.

I really goes to show you that Luffy came here over confident, that he didn't even bring the rest of the crew to help him. Like you guys I felt that Luffy should easily beat Cracker at this point and shouldn't be struggling, however if you look at the bigger picture. Big Mom has the same title of Yonko that Whitebeard had. So Cracker would be equivalent of Luffy fighting Marco, Jozu or any of the other commanders under Whitebeard. So when Oda was writing this, he was thinking that it shouldn't be easy for Luffy to get through all these enemies.
