One Piece (in my opinion) is not just a great fictional story, but an epic that surpasses many other comics and works of fiction. Most don’t know about it, but it’s so magical and heartwarming and on your seat exciting that you will enjoy this for a long time to come. ❤️

2023-12-05 03:29:36 +0000 UTCYeah, the only thing you skipped cause it’s literally in the middle of the filler is the explanation of the Calm Belts. It’s really short, but the Calm Belts are two stretches of ocean on either side of the Grand Line. Think of the Grandline as our world’s equator. Anyways, the Calm Belts prevent exit and entry to/from the Grand Line cause no wind blows there (weird weather phenomenon probably from the Grand Line. And it’s a breeding nest for Sea Kings (Giant Sea Monsters that are shown in the first Opening for the anime). They attack ships and you can’t move cause there is no wind there. That’s why all four Seas (East Blue, North Blue, West Blue, and South Blue must enter in canals that go up Reverse Mountain which is part of the Red Line to get into the Grand Line. If you look at a One Piece world map you will understand it more. The Red Line is the only Continent and giant Land Mass in this world that wraps perpendicular around the globe to the Grand Line. Reverse Mountain is just part of that. Here is an image of it. (Ignore the islands in the Grand Line). Also, the way that filler character shows up and breaks the moment is possibly the most awkward bit in the entirety of the anime, lol. Another thing that's canon, i.e. what actually happened in the manga, is them being blown into the Calm Belt. That's also baked into one of these filler episode somewhere, annoyingly. The simplest way to get a clear picture is probably to read this part of the manga. Yay for OP bracelets!! 😆🫶🫶 You’d think most hardcore anime fans would watch (or attempt) the Big 3: One Piece, Naruto, & Bleach. I’d say it’s common for anime fans to never watch any of them nowadays. There’s a stigma attached to them: too long, seen it everywhere, too many cliches... There’s also a big difference in older & newer anime fans for top anime choices. You’ll see younger fans recommend Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, etc and older fans recommend Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geass, Neon Genesis Evangelion, etc. There’s big stylistic differences in animation & pacing, obviously as the medium evolved. And some fans watch based on the animation studios, like Bones, Madhouse, Studio Trigger, Mappa, etc. It’s a unique genre that steers off in so many directions, anime fans end up on all sorts of paths far from the Big 3.

2023-12-02 19:09:59 +0000 UTCEpisode 54-61. that's about 7.5 filler episodes. Yikes LOL. Filler, Mixed Canon/Filler , Anime Canon, and Manga Canon. These 7.5 episodes were straight up Filler. You can just forget the Filler you saw in the first half of episode 61. Going from ep 53 to start of ep 61 must be confusing lol. I agreed, what happens in filler stays in filler :) It's best if you don't even watch it at all lol

Plus its so long now that it's hard to get someone to commit to watching it but it is an amazing journey that's best enjoyed with others.

2023-11-29 06:21:45 +0000 UTCOne Piece always has been a big manga but outside of Japan it was overshadowed by other big series like Naruto and Bleach for multiple reasons but when those other manga ended(for the most part) about a decade or so ago a lot of those fans moved onto One Piece and after the success of the Netflix series the fandom has seen even more growth. I can only imagine how much the series will grow in the future with more Netflix seasons, anime episodes and more manga chapters.

2023-11-29 01:37:26 +0000 UTCRegarding your discussion at the end, there are a lot of big Animes out there that have their own fandoms, so while One Piece is the biggest anime/manga, there are still plenty of people who haven't seen it. Most people just say it's too long for them while others say it looks too goofy. On it's surface it certainly is goofy, but deep down it's one of the most mature stories I've ever experienced. It handles it's themes with so much respect and care It's hard to explain how, but One Piece is quite a bit different from most other Animes, and a lot of people just don't "get it".

2023-11-29 00:54:07 +0000 UTCOne Piece got overlooked for many years by a lot of anime lovers, because they think the art style is too goofy, they think its just silly pirates (aimed for little kids), and are intimidated by how long the series is. I still today try to get my friends I've known for 12+ years to watch. Lol It's a reason why the OP community gets excited for new reactors, because they like to see people realize it's way more than a goofy pirate anime.
