Hello !
This episode is really about taking responsibility for your actions and dealing with the consequences of it. It's the case for Rue who has to be without drugs, to apologize to people she hurt, to face the deception of people who love her, and we can see the impact it has on them, their feelings but also how desperate they can be. It's the same for Kat, Nate, and even Cassie, but that one chose to deny her responsibility for what happened, to justify all of her actions.
But the fact that at the end, she follows Nate, knowing that he ruined her life, hating him as much as she loves him, proves the point : she can continue to deny her responsibility only if she proves they can be a couple. But, her being so lost and desperate, it's almost a too easy game for Nate the FU**ING PSYCHOPATH. What he did during this episode to Maddy was unforgivable. It was not a joke, and he was not sorry : he manipulated her, scared her to death. He needs to be stopped.
