And the pain began. Really, with this episode, my long journey of pain with this last season began. Aethelflaed dying, it's already sad, and I knew that all of these goodbyes she will have with people would destroy me. And YES, the one with Aldhelm broke me even more, because of his loyalty to her and also the affection that they have for each other (yes, I know, I shipped them but knew it would never happen).
So, already that, I was in tears for good. Bring also to the equation Brida who is making that mistake, causing the death of her daughter, and I'm lost, that's it. Her daughter. Her kid. Her family. She finally found peace and now she has lost everything. Again. But in a weird way, I was glad, because I didn't like that the writers defined her character only by being cruel and crazy. She's more than that, so much more.
