Don't get me wrong : the episode was great, well written, it was interesting to see how this group is functioning, also when they are acting with simple life stuff, and to have them really reveal themselves. But there are two "but" : the first one being that we knew these things before, except for Ty Lee ; and the second one being that I hated it.
The dynamic of this group is so wrong, they are talking so bad to each other. At some point, I really wondered if they are true friends : they are not saying the truth to each other to push the other to be better, but really to hurt the other one, on purpose. Azula was so satisfied about this fire moment, I wanted to scream. And at the end, they're reunited and are feeling good again because they are destroying a party, that they were expelled because of how bad they acted ? Yaaaaay...

And, yeah, I suppose you are right, that's a really disfunctional friendship. Luckily, we have Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph to compare it to. But I would say that it was important for Zuko to admit to himself that he is not only confused (like he told Iroh), but actually angry at himself.

2021-06-09 10:04:20 +0000 UTCBy the way, I love the dude that is chasing the Avatar now. He has cool powers :-) And yes that is just a tattoo on his forehead. He basically uses a specialised version of firebending where he superheats the air in a very small area and creates an explosion. I just love all of the different bending variations (sand bending, etc)

2021-06-08 12:18:43 +0000 UTCMai and Ty Lee are definitely friends and every friendship can be strained at times. Zuko is angry and is lashing out but he's at least friends with Mai. Azula has no friends and I doubt she's capable of caring about or loving anyone. The others are with her because they have little choice.

It's what the characters are doing that I didn't like, it's different π How they are treating each other is logical with their characters, well done by the writers, but I don't like it because it's the contrary of my definition of a friendship. And, speaking of the next episode, you'll see that I even said something like "after the definition of a toxic friendship, we have the presentation of the perfect one" (which didn't end well, but that's another story π). For Zuko, you know how much I love the kid but I can also say when he's doing things wrong, and like I hated when he treated Iroh badly, I hate when he talked bad to Mai. Again, it's the contrary of my definition of what an healthy relationship should be. I can love Zuko and not agree with things he did π

BUT the next episode is also one of my favorites and I really think that one would be more enjoyable for you! The relationship between our villain group is a little hard to explain. What they all have in common is Azula and itβs just not possible to have a healthy relationship with Azula. Sheβs kinda like a poison, making everything toxic π. The assassinβs power is indeed a form of fire bending. The tattoos are somewhat similar in purpose to the air bender arrows. They are placed on specific chi paths to focus energy. One more thing before I stop: thank you for not tolerating Zukoβs behavior towards Mai. He is very popular among female fans and a lot of those fans tend to just brush aside all of his bad behavior, which is not good π

2021-06-08 08:22:54 +0000 UTCI think the reason the friendship of those four is so tense is because Mai and Tai-lee's friendship with Azula is mostly based on fear. Zuko was not close to Azula, so really didn't have much of a relationship with Tai-lee.... PS: you should watch The legend of Korra.... I absolutely love it. It's within the avatarverse, as a sequel... just if you decide to watch it, dont go in expecting avatar 2.0, try to see it as its own thing.
