AVATAR : THE LAST AIRBENDER 3X11 FULL REACTION

FULL REACTION PART !!, TWO WEEKS SOONER, NO ADDS

Hello !

I had so many things wrong before beginning the episode, big one being us knowing that Fire Nation knew about the invasion. The blocus didn't happen, and yes they were truly hiding, which is still a surprise for me, for what I thought of Ozai. But I was right about the conclusion : we failed and our guys escaped but not our friends. I clearly totally broke when it happened. For those who watched my bingewatching of The Expanse, you know I'm not dealing well with people accepting their fate, known as being so bad.

I totally broke also during Zuko's speech : the kid is not just telling the truth to his dad, he is saying that he's not gonna obey anymore and on the contrary, he's gonna join his enemy. Oh, and no, he won't give you the opportunity of another fight, he knows his fate, and he's implying that his destiny is to help get you out of the throne to take it and rule better than you. YEAH.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

When you realize the parallels between Iroh emotionally saving Zuko and his teachings of redirecting lightning literally saving Zuko...

Arshan

Hello! I'm sorry for you, Ariana, I don't want to say anything which could hurt you here by talking about parents/kids relationships, so I will just give you my support and a big hug πŸ–€

i personally have a dad i don't get along with. in my culture adults just expect to be respected but they have no intention of respecting others, even their kids. doesn't matter how grown up we get. it's why i cried watching atla and this episode

reina

Two different types of confrontation and clearly not the same end πŸ™ˆ

Laura Reactions

I absolutely love the confrontation between Zuko and Ozai. I feel like that’s the moment that everyone has been waiting for since season 1. Well, that and the next episode 😁

Uhohmykokoro (Ari)

Hello ! Yes, I knew about their voices since the flashback episode in season 1 when we learnt how Zuko was banished by his father, and I kept thinking about it. Here, Ozai wanting his son to join his side and after that his son deciding to fight against him because he represents the dark side... πŸ™ˆ

This is a great set of episodes! Mark Hamill voices Ozai, and Dante Basco (the voice of Zuko) has said that it was surreal doing this scene with Mark Hamill as his father because of so many parallels to the famous Star Wars scene. Very cool! I also agree that the invaders should have been able to work out that the Fire nation knew about the invasion plan, or at least suspected about, since all the Earth Kingdom generals who were planning it were captured. To be fair, only the three "fake" Kyoshi warriors were present when the King told them about the plans (I'm pretty sure Katara didn't walk in until later) so you could argue no one knew for sure that they found out about the plan, but they should have at least expected that they would. One last thing, just next month they're releasing the first graphic novel centered on Suki, and its about her time being imprisoned by Azula, so we'll all soon learn some new info about her and her time during this period of the show!

Ryan Lake

When it comes to the avatar state, Aang can't master it. When he was killed by Azula in Ba Sing Se, his chakra was locked. He doesn't have access to the avatar state anymore, no matter how angry he might get.

Lee

Hello ! I know that now but really here, because maybe we saw a lot of time Azula attacking first and being so much into the "better to attack first" mode, that I really thought that, with the time they had to prepare themselves, they wouldn't choose the "we hide in a bunker" solution. Fire Nation and people seem really brave, but yes, when you have a coward king, you're obeying to his rules.

Laura Reactions

Ozai is fundamentally a coward. Almost his entire life has been spent in the protective walls of the palace city. Meanwhile Iroh was out fighting for his country. When he wanted to steal the throne from Iroh all he did was ask politely and then he agreed to kill Zuko because he didn't want to make Azulon mad. He also let Ursa take all the risks when they murdered Azulon so that if anything went wrong she would take the blame. And now he not only hides in a secret bunker but in a secret room inside that secret bunker, leaving Azula in the Firelord's Chamber to potentially die if the enemy shows. The man's trash. Cowardly, cowardly trash.

Lee

Hello ! Yes, with a cold mind, I think that it was a good idea. Not the betrayal but to have Zuko back on the Fire Nation, on his father's side so he could see that it's not what he wants at all in fact.

Laura Reactions

I love these episodes so much. It was so cool to watch Zuko and I think in retrospect it does make sense why the writers had him betray Uncle in Ba Sing Se. Zuko needed to have EVERYTHING he ever wanted to then realise that it was NOT what he wanted. And also to lose Iroh to realise that Iroh was the only real "father" he ever had. Also, it is funny how you were discussing "how they didn't know that the Firenation knew about the invasion". I agree it is very obvious. I don't understand how they didn't know :-D BUT you are actually very perceptive. I have seen many reactors go like "What?? How did the fire nation knew they were coming??" And I'm always like "Really? The king told them! lol" Take Care :-)
