AVATAR : THE LAST AIRBENDER 3X17 EXTENDED REACTION

EXTENDED REACTION PART, TWO WEEKS SOONER, NO ADDS

LINK : https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZSHxVZUUxN0adrv6bzqtFCSgP5WHD2wS1X

Hello !

Me during the intro : 5 episodes left, we can lose time anymore, we need to progress into the story, to resolve stuff. Writers of ATLA : ok, so we're gonna take an entire episode to create a play, so we can summarize all of the events of the three seasons (in case you forgot) and you're gonna be ready for the final episodes. And we're gonna create some new issues to resolve and the worst end possible.

Which new issue ? Aang, my dear, I love you, I know what you thought, but you were wrong : no, guys, you're not reassuring a girl you love by forcing a kiss after her telling you that she's feeling lost. You're letting time to the girl, you're reassuring her with words and support. That's all.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

Hello ! Yes, it's a good recap episode and like you said, just before the end, it's a good way to appreciate all of the journey before the final step. I didn't know it was something usual with animes. Haha no tears, on the contrary, I had some good moments of laughs 😊

I love the placement of this episode and how it was delivered. To have a series recap right before the finale is a great way to just really appreciate the entire journey and how much the characters have grown. A lot of animes, especially the really long ones, devote a whole episode to just flashbacks and montages to catch everyone up for a finale or an important episode. Avatar did the same thing here, but did so in a more organic way which I really appreciated. Edit: also, I was thinking that because this was really just a recap episode that you'd be able to save some tears, but alas, that was not the case.

This is one of my favorite episodes to come back and rewatch. Probably the best "recap" episode that's ever been done in a show! I did find it a little funny that you're probably the 3rd or 4th reactor I've seen that started this episode with "okay, this is the last episode before the finale - there's still so much story left to tell so no time for a Zuko field trip or anything like that" and then we get this, which advances the plot/character development even less than that would have. It's amazing how much they were able to put into the finale to wrap everything up.

Ryan Lake

No. Usually in life, I avoid things I know which are gonna make me suffer 🙈😊

I hope you react to The Last Airbender movie after the show just compare it to the play in this episode XD

Hello ! Yes, I also appreciated that a lot. Yes, kissing a girl telling you that she's lost is not good, you're not the prince saving the girl by kissing her (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty I'm talking about you girls 🙈). Like I said here : let her time, reassure her with words, support her, and it will be already great 😊

Laura Reactions

Aww, I love this one! And I really like that the writers felt it was important to show their viewers (mainly kids) that just kissing a girl like that is inappropriate, especially in that context. It seems like they didn't want the kiss on the Day of Black Sun to give kids the impression that it's always a sweet, romantic thing. Nick also did a poor job of showing important old episodes, and there was no way to stream them, so a lot of viewers needed a fun reminder of what happened.

KM

Oh would you look at that? I don’t like this one either 😂 But I’ll never get tired of this: “Look, Zuko! I think it’s your honor!” “Where?!” Moving on to the endgame now! I can’t wait 🤩

Zhao wanted to be a great hero of the Fire Nation and less than one year has passed and his only reference in the play is a small toy Spirit Aang is waving around. I love it, Zhao is such an embarrassment that the entire nation ignores his existence. There's also a fan theory that the play is anti-Fire Nation propaganda. The entire play is sympathetic to Team Avatar and the first act ends with a Fire Nation crowd cheering on the destruction of the Fire Navy. Pu-on Tim gathered information from across the world to write a play against the Fire Nation and then tacked on that ending so that it would actually be shown. In the heart of the Fire Nation, this director is undermining the Fire Lord's authority.
