Hello !
I appreciated this episode but less than the first ones. It seemed less deep, with no real progress into the story or new important informations. It was more an episode to discover Inara's job, to make scenes between her and Inara so shippers can ship. But I'm not sure that they made a significant progression (pretty sure it's gonna be a slowburn ship), and for the rest, nothing really happened.
And that dual didn't seem right to me, to go well with the mood of the show : for a mix between western rules and space opera universe, to have a dual from Renaissance or like that, right here, in costume, with swords, lights and fogs, it was a little too much. I didn't enter into it, feel any tension, and on the contrary, the fanfic way to write it took me off. I'm ok with some fanfic scenes and episodes in shows, but not episode 5 of the season 1, it's too soon. You had me interested with the first episodes, you need to make me stay by continuing with good quality of writing and then you can allow yourself that kind of moments/episodes.

Hello ! I'm not sure if it was meant to be ironic because I repeated too much in the video or not at all 🙈 So just in case : I think that it's the accumulation of the mechanic girl who is going to a ball in the nice dress, the jealousy scene between two main protagonists during the ball with a moment where the guy wants to defend the girl's honor in front of the guy who is with her, then the dual to defend her again, some lines... And also maybe because the other episodes felt more serious than this one? Like someone else said here or on youtube, I think that it can be explained by the fact that the show was not supposed to have only this season of 14 episodes, so they could make one which was lighter for the infos/reveals.

2021-07-14 10:01:03 +0000 UTCI still cry a little bit inside when you mention it's the only season. T_T Personally, I find that episodes 5 and 6 are the weakest of the season. And I feel like the show still follows a lot of the late 90s TV format, making each episode largely self-contained and an adventure in it of itself. So I don't think there are going to be a lot of episodes that are focused on the overarching storylines; it's pointed out, but I don't think an episode really ever fleshes out these things.

2021-07-14 10:00:32 +0000 UTCI felt mostly the same way when I first watched this episode. It does get better, my personal favorite are episodes 7 and 8. I think you will will enjoy those. P.S. you speak better english than some folks in my neck of the woods, and I'm from the States. Do a YT search for Boomhauer and you will get an idea of some of the English I have to translate sometimes at work 😁
