THE LEGEND OF KORRA 1X02 EXTENDED REACTION

EXTENDED REACTION PART, TWO WEEKS SOONER, NO ADDS

LINK : https://e.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZJFaVZek2C9yb5J3yA019WUAtRfuHrC89y

Hello !

I loved this episode because the first one disturbed me a lot, I had trouble focusing on Korra during it because of all of your old guys being there, with their families, and being so connected with the actual story. So to have this episode which was really for her, meeting new friends and evolving in Republic City on her own, finding a new passion, a real team, it was great.

Bolin already made me laugh but I had to recognize that Mako is good looking and that I feel a potential relationship between him and Korra. And that I can fall for it really quick. I am also amazed about how good the writers are, only 20 minutes and we have so much informations about characters, new ones, clues about future stories.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

THE LEGEND OF KORRA 1X02 EXTENDED REACTION

The journey continues! The worst thing about being on the first season is that I can’t say much without spoiling 😅. Tenzin’s kids are wonderful, and I’ll have more to say about them later. Bolin and Mako are here, and I’ll have more to say about them later. Pro-bending is here…you see where I’m going with this 😂

Hello ! I can understand some fans of ATLA who don't like it because it's hard after the first masterpiece to give a try to a new show, with an avatar who is so different for the character, she's impulsive like hell when Aang began the story being so cute and pure. The drawings are also different, the issues can seem less "important" : since beginning of ATLA we knew Aang was here to save the world which was divided and devasted, with a genocide, when Korra is dealing here in beginning of this season with issues of a small town. I think it's gonna get bigger with Amon getting bigger, and I suspect the guy to have a big plan in mind, deeper and darker than just a bender/nonbender war, maybe something more personal, I don't know. Me, I love already Legend of Korra, that kind of drawing, these story, the new characters who are really different but can be developed so well 😊

Cool ! I think it was an issue with pcloud on some countries, it was alright in mine (France) but not in some others outside of Europe. Weird. Glad that you have access to it 😊

Sheesh I keep trying to force myself to like the legend of Korra but I just can't do it... It feels disjointed and all of the 3d animation turns me off something fierce... I guess it could be the star wars prequel effect... I agree when the original is so good some people will never accept something new... In these cases though I feel like their is legitimate complaints to have thought... Overall Korra does feel like the prequels to me... the characters never feel fully formed, the acting is sub par, and even though it uses better technology than the original it somehow looks worse... Even though it's the original creator making it it ends up feeling like fan fiction... Bleh I don't know maybe I'm being harsh though, people really do seem to love Korra more than hate it... Im just excited to see what the creators make at this new studio nickelodeon started, the potential of the avatar verse is endless in my opinion

I think this reaction especially would be fun for you to come back and rewatch after you've finished the show to see what some of your initial thoughts and predictions were. You went into a lot of detail in both your beginning and end reactions and the only thing I'll say is that there were many observations and predictions that made me smile. Korra (the show, but also somewhat the character) gets a lot of hate from some people who loved the original Avatar, most of which is very unwarranted in my opinion. I feel like it suffers from what I think of as "Star Wars Prequel" syndrome - a franchise that is widely loved by many (especially in childhood) that has new material come out many years later that many who loved the original end up hating because it isn't exactly the same as the original. I think Star Wars is the biggest example, but I've also seen it more recently with Harry Potter (with the new Fantastic Beasts films and Pottermore material). I only mention this here because of the many reasons people give for not liking Korra compared to Avatar, at least two come up in this episode that you talk a little about. The first is pieces of information about the world that people claim that Korra "retcons". The example here is that Korra has trouble learning Airbending because its the opposite of her personality, rather than the opposite of her culture's bending style (waterbending), as it was for both Aang and Roku. While this is a pretty small case, there are a few bigger examples later on that people point to. However, using this one as an example, nothing is actually contradicted from the original show but rather expanded on, so I don't see it as a "retcon" at all (I feel this way for all the others as well, but obviously won't go into details). Aang was the posterchild of an Airbender, so his personality and culture's bending matched perfectly. Its not hard to imagine this was the same for Roku. Korra's personality really is much more like an earthbender (stubborn, confronts problems with overwhelming force/power) so it makes sense while expanding upon what we learned from the original show (and at least IMO, making it much more interesting). The other is something you talked about a little more at the end, which is comparing characters in Korra directly to Avatar characters. Many, MANY people describe Bolin as "a discount Sokka", and that's completely unfair to his character. The same is true for a number of other characters (though Sokka/Bolin is probably the most pronounced) such as Korra/Aang (obviously), Mako/Zuko, and Tenzin/Iroh. I'm so glad that you already picked up on this right away and directly said that you didn't want to compare them in that way. I've really enjoyed watching several reactors go through Korra (and in many ways prefer reactors for Korra over the original, though I like them both) and I've yet to see any who haven't liked Korra. Looking forward to watching more from you!
