Hello !

Firefly, you won, you had my tears. And not because I was emotional like hell that day (it was the case, but no, understand ?), but really because in one episode you created a character and explained deep old relationships so at the end, when this character disappeared, I felt sad for him, for them. This guy thought he had nothing to lose anymore so that's why he did that, and he had this end.

I liked that we saw the effects that his presence had on Mal and Zoe. But also on Kaylee ! The girl deserves the world, she's so nice, and I don't ship her with Simon : they're cute but the guy doesn't know how to treat her well. So I was all ok with her flirting with the new guy, especially because he was nice all along the episode. I even thought we could keep him.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

I dunno, man. First time I watched this episode, I was on the "you should have just told him about the plan" boat. But the more I watched it since then, the more it made sense to me that Tracey was not in a listening mood. That's why his last argument with Mal was so important, because it established that Tracey was not a man of honor and didn't think that anyone was, even Mal. So I don't think there was anything Mal could have said to change that outcome. If they didn't at least incapacitate Tracey when they got boarded, he would have just started shooting the feds and there'd be more casualties. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Hello ! Yes, we're doing that also in France, counting to see how far storm is, but we're saying talkie-walkie πŸ™ˆ I don't know from where it came, why the change, but it's like that. I agree with you, Mal could have killed the quiproquo quicker and maybe avoid this end, but now that I had time to think about it, this character would have been difficult to keep/use, he needed an end here and with their background in war, it was logical that it was like that.

This has always been my least favorite episode. There are some narrative elements that feel forced, like Mal's lack of communication with Tracy about his plan that seems could have been handled better (and with a better outcome.) But, the next episode is my favorite, so yay!

This episode and the next are probably the ones I remember the most. When I first watched it, I really liked it, but rewatching again now... I can't get over thinking that Mal was completely at fault for what happened. He had plenty of time to say "Tracey stop, we're not gonna turn you in" and then try to explain the actual plan, but instead he just got into an argument with him, without even trying to explain the plan, that at least to me boiled down to Mal taking offense that Tracey would try to go against his orders. It'd be one thing if Mal even attempted to explain the plan and Tracey wouldn't listen and had to be incapacitated, but that's not what happened at all... Also, with all the technological advancements in this show, you'd think they'd finally have a good method of incapacitating someone at a distance without punching a hole through them with a gun... I'm not sure if you understood about River counting, since you looked a little confused, but that's something that's kinda common (at least in the US) to estimate how far away a thunderstorm is, by counting the time between a lightning strike and thunder. (Counting "one thousands" like "one thousand one, one thousand two" because saying it is approx. 1 second). Connecting the explosions from gunfire on the mountains with a thunderstorm is just sort of a River thing, I guess, and maybe a bit of foreshadowing for what happens to Tracey? Also, yes, we do call them "walky talkies" (at least in the US). Do you literally call them "talky walkies" or is it something similar in French? That's interesting that the order of the words got switched somewhere along the line, lol.

Apparently the composer was in the process of creating the music for this episode when he got word the show was canceled which is why the music during the funeral is so melancholic. He was saying goodbye to the show.

Lee

Oh. It's this episode. Yeah, this was a heavy episode. Some of the cast, during interviews, felt like when they shot the scene where they were sending Tracy back to his family at the end ,they were already saying goodbye to the show because at that point they already knew that they will be canceled soon.
