Hello !
We have other episodes into this show which were better for how it was written, the subjects explored and all, but they've got me with this one, for sure, which was a lot about Inara, Mal and their relationship. These two have feelings for each other, they know it now and they are hurting each other by not saying the truth. But I understand Inara's decision at the end, it's the most logical.
Since the beginning, she's on the limit : she works with this crew, she helps them even if it's taking away her job as Companion, but here they did something for her without being paid, risked their lives and one of her best friends died. For Mal, she has feelings for him, something she's not supposed to have, and he slept with someone else, not the best way to reassure her. And finally, for herself, her friend said it : she doesn't like complicated things, so the easiest response it's to leave.

Technically, you can't even judge the movie as 'final', as Whedon published a number of follow-up comic books (graphic novels, if you prefer) that carry on the story, and fill in some blanks like Shepherd Book's backstory. It's never mentioned or hinted at in this season or on the movie, so it's not really a spoiler, but a wasted opportunity. Let me know if you want me to share it or not. Because doing so might still affect your viewing of what's left.
