I know this show was supposed to have only one season, so we were gonna conclude stuff here, I was prepared for that, but, episode 10 ? No, I thought of moments of action and emotional scenes for the two last episodes. During this episode, Amon kidnapped all of the Council, dropped bombs on Republic City, and took out Lin's bending. And we discovered General Iroh (Junior).
So yes, I cried. Yes, I put the full reaction part on Patreon almost only for that end. Iroh. For sure, related to our Iroh, our Zuko. Into the army. General. Who is gonna help. Let me alone, I need to cry again.

I don't necessarily thing that it gives me a "disconnect" but for me, it just makes it hard to think of "new" Iroh as a distinct, "new" character (possibly also since his name is also the same as a previous character). All of the other descendents of AtLA characters that we've seen in Season 1 all seem like their own unique character, and unfortunately, at least to me, Iroh doesn't. I'm sure the use of Dante Bosco as his voice plays a big part of that, but if they were able to develop his character more (though it'd be hard in this season as he was introduced in E10 at the very end) and make him more distinct from Zuko, I think it could have worked better.

2021-08-18 15:07:24 +0000 UTCDante Basco is great and all, but am I the only one who kinda wished that they didn't get him to voice General Iroh? I mean, it was a great reveal, and I'm sure the fandom's collective brains exploded the moment he uttered his first lines, but because his voice is so distinct, I always get this disconnect when my brain expects to see Zuko but then sees General Iroh instead. Kinda knocks me out of the immersion.

2021-08-18 08:07:56 +0000 UTCThis is a great episode. So much happens, lots of ups and downs. I've gotta say though, I wasn't anticipating it, but it hits a lot different with more recent events... The relationships between everyone in Tenzin's family is one of my favorite parts of all of Korra, and you can really see it here. Also, you've really gotta appreciate how well the "new" Team Avatar can work together, even through their personal issues, especially Asami!
