I think that you saw it quickly during my bingewatching of the season 1 of Shadow and Bone, I was loving more the narrative arc with Kaz, Inej and Jesper, than the one of Alina (even if I was shipping so obviously her relationship with Mal). I learnt after my bingewatching, thanks to your comments, that this season 1 was the mix between two books, which seems to be one for Alina and the second one for the Crows. I love that the writers did that because I met my favorites thieves before, but in the other hand, I'm wondering : maybe it would have let me more time to be more connected with Alina ?
Here, first episodes, I was seing in her character a lot of these "chosen ones" who don't want to have that role and who are discovering that they can't fight it, it's their destiny. I appreciated her story, her particularities, but I was a little disappointed when she fall for the General : their relationship was passionate and intense, great for the story, but it felt like she was disloyal to Mal. It's really when she was reunited with him and even more when she discovered who was the Darkling, what he did to her, that I fully connected with Alina. I saw how strong she already was and could be.
