EXTENDED REACTION PART, ONE VIDEO, SOONER, NO ADDS

Hello !

This is not the final episode of the season, the movie is doing that job, but it's such a good one to finish the regular season. One of my favorite even. And yes, a lot because it was about River. The opening scene is amazing : we finally can see the world like River is seeing it, and all of the feelings that she has to suffer, mixed with some hallucinations that what is left of her brain is creating. It's heartbreaking.

As much as seeing her listening to the necessary conversation of the crew about their safety around her. As much as imagining that she could have lost her mind and imagine that she's Serenity. But at the end, she had a plan, she organized all of that, warned them, protected them in a way, and they all trusted her. That's the proof they needed : she's a part of the crew.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

Have you read any of the newer "Firefly" comics by Boom! comics? I haven't looked at any released since like 7 years ago, when it was still Dark Horse. I assume the new ones are considered "canon" too - and they've been released monthly for a couple years now I think, so should be a lot of new material. The one with Shepherd's back story is probably my favorite though. Need to go back and re-read it!

As an FYI, repeating this post from the last episode's thread: Technically, you can't even judge the movie as 'final', as Whedon published a number of follow-up comic books (graphic novels, if you prefer) that carry on the story, and fill in some blanks like Shepherd Book's backstory. You can go to this fan wiki for the list of what Whedon himself considers canonical: https://firefly.fandom.com/wiki/Firefly:Canon_policy

Hello ! I don't talk more about the rape threat in the episode, I said what I thought and there is no more to say. I didn't know the reference about his name, it's something to think of more but as a french person, it's difficult for me to go further than what you said here πŸ™ˆ Reaction to the movie is gonna come in just one video for you guys here, on a day of next week (can't remember which one), but yes, it's really long, like 50min long for the reaction part, so really, prΓ©pare coffee, cookies and plaid πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

My memory of this episode is not that I disliked it, but I think I was a little disappointed that it didn't wrap things up more, knowing it was the last episode, so it left a negative impression with me. Watching it again, I think it is a pretty good episode, especially as a "penultimate" episode, as you described. I forgot how it finally made River feel like part of the crew, and I really like that. I also agree with Laura and Ferdinand that I don't really like how they used the threat of rape by the Bounty Hunter as more of a shock factor. They could have done without that part of it. Also just to point out, Jubal Early is the name of a famous Confederate officer from the US Civil War, so I wonder what the connection is and why they chose that name for this character. Maybe some connection with the Unification War? Are you planning on releasing the movie reaction in multiple parts?

I was excited also, but I didn't know that they would go this far... I loved it, but I cried way more than I planned πŸ™ˆ

I was also assuming that River lost her mind when she started saying she became the ship. I loved it when it was revealed that it was all part of her plan. That girl is brilliant. The rape threat was a bit much. But I suppose the writers *really* didn't want anyone liking Jubal. The moment he said it, AND SAID IT TO KAYLEE, he would have no saving grace, and anyone watching would immediately want the worst for him. It's a cheap way to get the audience to dislike a character, but it's effective. So excited for you to watch the movie. :)
