EXTENDED REACTION PART, ONE WEEK SOONER, NO ADDS

Hello !

I was getting less divided by the situation with this episode : ok, I still believed that Unalaq wanted to do things right after what happened in the past, him seeing his brother doing things wrong and having to save the situation, and now it seemed like just he was replicating it ; but at the same time, the guy was meditating on the throne, he was obviously manipulating Korra and claiming to be the only chief.

I understand what the writers did with Tenzin's story during this episode, but I didn't appreciate it : I don't want to know that Aang was a bad father, that he didn't treat his kids equally. I love the characters from ATLA so much, I don't want those in Korra to ruin them. Again, I understand the logic to show that he was just human and made mistakes, to show also how each of his kids lived his/her childhood. But no, please, it broke my heart.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

Hello ! Don't worry about writing an essay, and obviously you needed to say all of that somewhere 😊 I totally agree with what you said and in addition of that, I hated that choice made by the writers because in a way, they are ruining the future that they made us imagine for our guys at the end of ATLA. Ok, they are humans and they can't be perfect parents, but here they are making Aang as a real bad father who is not considering his kids as equals, and making Bumi think in particular that he was "not enough".

Ah, now we’re getting to my problems with this season 😁 I will never forgive the writers for this. First of all, it’s so cliche to make the protagonist of one show a bad parent to their children in a sequel series. I’m sure there’s a page for this on TvTrope, it’s so overdone. That aside, it just doesn’t click for me. I can buy Aang not being a perfect father. He doesn’t have parents in a traditional sense—monks are raised communally. Katara also has family issues that would make her an imperfect mother. Sure. That’s fine. I can buy Aang having a favorite. Every parent does (and if you think not, you are the favorite 😅). I can buy Aang taking Tenzin on more vacations because he would be spending more time with him anyway because of airbending lessons. What I can’t buy is Aang apparently *never* never taking Bumi or Kya on vacation. Like, not once, according to them. No. It’s just not making sense to me. And they expect me to believe that Katara didn’t have anything to say about that?! Absolutely not. The writers are insane if they think I would buy that for even a second 😤. I’m sorry that I dropped an essay on you out of nowhere 😅. It’s 2 a.m. and this episode makes me upset, so I had to do something lol. Oh, and about Bolin and Eska…I will talk about them tomorrow 😬
