Hello !

What just happened ? So we're gonna discover the story of the first Avatar ? I loved the idea, the drawings, the epic musics, the story of that simple guy who wanted to help his family and friends, the fact that before spirits were in our world and people forced to live on lion turtles, that lion turtles were giving powers to humans, that Wan was the first firebender and we know how the Fire Nation was created in fact and who is Raava.

Oh, and the First Avatar was surely a vegetarian like Aang, he wanted to protect spirits and animals, and began by making a terrible mistake which threatened the entire world. But I loved how it made me think about everything : Wan was human but he was accepted by the Spirits, maybe they gave him "the Avatar Spirit" because now we're talking "spirit" and not "state", so maybe in fact the Avatar it's sort of a spirit they gave to him, which can explain why when the body dies, it can go to another body.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

Yay, I get to be the one to say it!! Avatar Wan is voiced by Steven Yeun, aka Glen from The Walking Dead!

Hello ! I loved these episodes but with time and also the consequences I saw into the next episodes, I can understand why people could not like them. There is a big important religious aspect into these episodes and the infos we have into it. It's almost for me like you read the Bible only with Jesus journey and after decades you're saying to people that in fact at the beginning Adam and Eve, and then also do you know Noe and Moise ? I don't want to say a blasphemy here, I want to explain my point of view : they created the "religion" of the show, things viewers had to believe into, and with&after these episodes they are transforming the rules by giving new ones. It can be shocking and not acceptable at all for some people, I can understand that. I'm not sure if I was clear here... Sorry if it's a mess 🙈

Hello ! You'll see, I said it in intro/review, they are maybe my two favorite episodes of this season. Which is a little weird and unfair because in fact they are not representing it, really connected to it. They are almost a spin off inside of the season.

These two episodes are some of my favorite between both shows. Part of why I love LoK so much is because of how much it expands on AtLA, both because of the new technological/bending advancements, being in the future, but also for moments like these that expand on the "lore" of the world so much. I think most fans of the show also really like these two episodes, but there is a small (but very loud) minority who hate these episodes because they see them as "retconning" several aspects of the original series (such as the "first benders"). It comes up more in the 2nd episode, so maybe I'll save more discussion until tomorrow, but IMO they do a great job of tying into what was introduced in AtLA. For instance, the scene with the dragon clearly shows Wan, the "first" firebender, learning the "Dancing Dragon"... from a dragon! Also, a firebender who's banished from his home and has to "discover" the Avatar? Is Wan the first Avatar or the first incarnation of Zuko? 😂 I also like how reminiscent the spirits all going to the oasis is to the bath house in Spirited Away (a lot of the Spirits especially in that scene are directly inspired by those spirits) ... which would make Wan the "Stink Spirit"... 😂 We didn't get to see the "monkey" spirit, but at least we got the Aye-Aye spirit (which IS a type of lemur), which is at least another type of primate! I like the phrase, "know it like your pocket". The English equivalent is "know it like the back of your hand". I think I like the French better - maybe because I spend a lot of time with my hand in my pocket, so I don't see the back of it as much. 😂

This one and the next is truly great episodes. Also the art style change is a nice touch and is done well that it doesnt feel gimmicky to me.
