I was gonna comment about hanbin’s performance director role, but I see that’s already been addressed lol. I guess the lack of a director could also been the reason for the lack of dance practice bts until their 3rd album. ZB1 are probably more known for their vocals and overall performances. They have very underrated vocalists & people who could very well be main vocalists in other groups (gunwook’s growth is absolutely insane). They’re charismatic on stage and their hunger is very visible. They do have *very* amazing dancers, but like you said they’re not known for synchronicity. Although, they do noticeably become more unison as time goes on, especially with certain songs that call for a specific energy.

2025-06-14 06:46:06 +0000 UTCI don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Lots of lesser known companies, especially ones not from the big 3 use this method because of lack of funds. Not saying it should’ve happened but it makes sense, especially considering Wakeone hasn’t really had a very big and successful group since ZB1 so they were definitely testing the waters.

2025-06-10 00:20:04 +0000 UTCTo add to the comment that said how much of a rookie group they were back then + that Hanbin had to take on the performance director role during those days (their company is... truly something), I also want to add something that Hanbin said very early on: instead of trying to achieve absolute perfect sync and wanting everyone dancing the exact same way, he prefers the members to keep "their own colors". It shows that some of them always make efforts to blend in (especially Gunwook, I was so scared of him dancing too hard in ZB1 after seeing some of his BP performances but now he's one of my favorite dancers in the group), but their own styles still show a lot every time they dance, to the point that they could perform behind a panel and only be only shown in shadows, and zerose who are into dancing could recognize who is who instantly. That's one of the things I love the most in their performances - yes I obviously find it amazing when dancers look very united, but with ZB1 I just love looking at them and see how they perform the moves in their own style. It's my guilty pleasure and I always rewatch the dance practice 10 times, 1 for the whole group and then 9 more times to see the members one by one lol. Thank you for your video, I will anticipate the next ones :)

2025-06-09 22:29:20 +0000 UTComg so about their synchronicity i feel like it was lowkey a combination of them being so new and not having trained together for a while before debut like other kpop groups have. also the fact that these days they have a performance director to help them clean their choreo but for their debut wakeone’s useless ass only hired choreographers but not like a performance director for them SO HANBIN HAD TO DO THAT HIMSELF WHILE HE WAS ALSO DEBUTING which is so insane and i can’t imagine how stressful that must have been for all of them :(((. so he was unpaid and uncredited for that role like????? he talked about how he had a lot of worries and that all the members lowkey had a mental breakdown learning the choreo back then 😭. and i mean he said this about in bloom but i imagine it was similar for new kidz on the block. thankfully they got an actual separate person for that role by the next comeback!
