To be honest, I’ve never been comfortable with drawing my own fursona. I’ve always used a lot of references to get the look to be “just right”, but it worked only sometimes, and I was even more frustrated knowing I can’t just draw by imagination. This led me to thinking I always need a reference to make ANY character look appealing to me, but when I started drawing dinos back into 2019, I noticed I can easily sketch their poses from head. That surprised and confused me at the same time.
Yesterday, I was willing to take another try to draw Snap, and I just let myself step away from any reference resources and tried to think about what kind of colours, expressions, etc. I really want. And finally, it felt really easy and good.
Are those my final thoughts on the design? Probably not, but what I can be certain of is that I really enjoyed the process.
