Sunset Blvd (1950)

Holy CRAP! I loved this film! I finally think I have committed William Holden to memory! For some reason, maybe he hasn't been memorable in the two other films I've seen him in... sorry, or maybe he just looked older or different!??

This movie is just unreal in so many ways! I hope you enjoy this reaction as much as I loved this film! I need to watch it again and hear all your thoughts on everything I may have missed!

OMG I didn't know William Holden was soooooooooooo hot when he was younger. I didn't see him in a movie until The Towering Inferno and Network two great performances. There is a little film directed by Clint Eastwood called Breezy a 1973 romantic drama that received 3 Golden Globe Award nominations. It is one of Clint Eastwoods early directorial pieces. It's a cute little romantic film, hope you watch it someday :)

Gloria Swanson was actually quite pleasant and down to earth when interviewed. She remarked that after this movie came out some people were actually afraid of her! There is an excellent British docuseries about the silent era of Hollywood from the emergence of motion pictures to the beginning of the talkies on youtube. This a link to an episode of that series that focused on Gloria Swanson and Rudolph Valentino. She was an enormous star during the silent era: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHiftU3olao&list=PLDRyHf3whQyxZhGK3YlOwkYkxdZA-gqrj&index=6 Great reaction to a great film Ames!

Just finished watching, Ames, and I loved your reaction. I've seen it maybe 20 times over the years and it has lost none of its power to stun with dialog, visuals, acting, writing - the whole shebang. Watching you experience it for the first time and being able to appreciate it all was special. Thank you for a thoughtful and well-reasoned reaction.
