It's fine not to repeat the circle of hatred, but there are different way one can be held accountable of their crime without killing them. This remind of a question I once read in a novel. 1 killer and 3 innocent guys were captured and the king couldn't figure out who was the killer or who were innocent since all of them were claiming to be innocent. The question what should the king do? The writer wanted to explain the burden of a ruler and the difficult decision they must make. The king ended up imprisoning all of them for a time, but one of the people argue that they should just commit and kill all of them, cause nothing guarantee that that one killer wouldn't just kill anymore once released.
