just a little side note: I did mention in the video that your comment didn't annoy me or anything (I quoted the kind of comment that does annoy me though haha) but since you were emphasizing that I should know that Piccolo said TWICE that Vegeta is stronger than Goku I decided to just address this topic once and for all :) I think my reply to you also made that clear, because I made sure to include that "my lengthy reply isn't so much pointed specifically at you, but I just wanted to address these kind of comments in general"

2025-03-04 00:01:25 +0000 UTCI'm the guy whose comment you read in the video and I replied to your reply before seeing this, because I didn't mean it to be a "who would beat who" argument and I'm not a Vegeta fanboy or anything. I'm sorry if I annoyed you, I didn't mean it, maybe I didn't word my comment properly. I think power-scaling debates are exhausting as well. In case it gets buried with the older video (I don't know how Patreon comments work): "I totally understand where you're coming from, but I'm not just trying to be a power-scaling argument guy in this instance. I think it's important to Vegeta's character arc to acknowledge the fact that Vegeta had finally, FINALLY achieved his life's goal and actually had become the strongest person in the universe. Not that he misguidedly believed he was, but that he REALLY was. He had surpassed Freeza, his life-long oppressor, and Goku, his now-life-long rival, only to immediately have that stripped away from him in utter humiliation by No. 18. It lends to your point that being strong for the sake of strength is a fruitless endeavor."

Same goes for Goku, continuing your point about his ability to inspire those around him, it truly defines him. Look here, the situation is extremely complicated, our heroes are in a mess, they don’t know what to do to handle the threat of Cell and the androids, and Goku barely on his feet despite the critical situation shows everyone the way. Goku is a symbol, he is the very embodiment of hope. And Bulma made it clear in last week’s Trunks TV Special, she wants Trunks to go back in time to save Goku because she knows, without any real rational reasoning, that with him everything would have been different. When he’s there hope is reborn, and it’s contagious to everyone around him, friends and former enemies alike. She could have asked Trunks to go back in time and warn Vegeta, who’s just as powerful, if not temporarily stronger than Goku, her former lover as well, but no, it’s Goku she placed her hope in once again. What a character!
