[DBZ] 187 - 192 Reaction & Thoughts

Actually this director love to show main characters in despair. Saint seiya Abel and Tenkai or Casshern sins série are really full of despair

I think the best way for a first experience is the original and then for a first rewatch go with Kai 🤷‍♀️ Shonen and Shonen type shows will definitely be rewatched so in the end you can experience both. I’m not in a rush I think like some viewers might be for me to get to certain points faster. But hey I’m used to this pacing, it rarely bothers me - it might definitely ruin the experience for others so Kai could still be the way to go for them

Tbh I’m a bit torn when it comes to DBZ vs DBZ Kai… because there’s definitely so many aspect about DBZ that I prefer over Kai but the pacing of DBZ is my biggest complaint. It’s the only reason I personally feel it’s DBZ Kai >>> DBZ. For example just to get an ideal of the pacing difference “DBZ Ep.192 = DBZ Kai Ep.97”.

It's one of the best additions in the series. It's one of those few moments that are superior to the source material.

Regarding the Broly movie moment with Vegeta, the director specifically admitted to intentionally making Vegeta look really pitiful to show how dangerous Broly is. Of course, in the actual series Vegeta wouldn't lose hope like that. He'd keep trying until he's used up everything as we see against Freeza and Cell.

Loved your reaction! Can’t wait to see your next episode. I always found it really emotional how future Gohan lost his arm and died, but present Gohan also lost the use of his arm and still managed to win. That little parallel hits hard. I feel like the difference was... Goku being there. That’s what made it possible. Kinda beautiful when you think about it.

There's a lot of things in this franchise that inspired me as a teenager. In my last 2 years of high school, I started to let my hair grow and I used a lot of dye and gel to make it look like Saiyajin hair. Goku, Gohan, Trunks, Vegeta, and even Broly. I didn't just copy their hairstyle, I also began to work out a lot and went from being a skinny, shy little nerd to having a transformation of my own. I also admired their character traits and their way of thinking, and I would use what I learned from them in order to overcome my own problems and obstacles. Every character taught me something different and applying what I learned from them at the appropriate times allowed me to become the version of myself I needed to be at those times. It may be a bit cringe and dramatic, but that's how I felt at the time and that's how I still feel looking back on those times. Dragon Ball wasn't just entertainment for me, it was something that I felt deeply connected with and I felt like it had become a part of my life. Wether it was dealing with bullies, a difficult class, or social/family problems, Dragon Ball helped me get through it, and even though it is not the best written show and it does have its flaws, it will always be my favorite fictional story.

The anime orginal addition of Yamcha and co. joining in to help Gohan was great, especially their internal monologue.

Oh and as a side note, when you know that Toriyama wanted to quit since Piccolo it’s crazy to me how every arc ending since the last Tenkaichi Budokai could've easily served as the series finale: Tenkaichi Budokai arc: Goku defeated Piccolo, won his first Tenkaichi, officially became the strongest man on Earth, and was about to get married. Namek Arc: Goku has become the legendary Super Saiyan, the strongest warrior in the universe. He defeated Freezer, and even though he's supposedly dead, the earth and the universe are safe. Cell arc: Goku sacrificed himself and officially passed the torch to the next generation, his son whom he personally trained to become the strongest. It's fascinating to see how Toriyama’s writing style was always driven by spontaneous inspiration rather than meticulous planning, unlike some mangakas who outline hundreds of chapters in advance. Even though he was pressured into continuing the story multiple times, he always managed to bounce back and create something fresh and exciting, seamlessly building upon what he'd previously established. And every time, he pulled off a satisfying and inspired ending. Honestly, I'm still a bit traumatized by the endings of some of my other favorite series, ones often praised as masterpieces of storytelling, where I felt the endings were kinda meh (the 'but he did nothing wrong guy') 👀So yeah you don't have to make ultracomplicated endings for them to be good & and I feel like that's where Toriyama excelled: he made simple things very very good.

What an ending right? What a climax!. I mean, think about itin just a handful of episodes, we've seen Goku sacrifice himself, Cell returning stronger than ever, Trunks getting killed, and Vegeta showing the first real signs of change after being shaken by his son's death and even apologizing to Gohan (not to mention how much Goku's death seemed to affect him, like he lost his drive or something). Then, we got the ICONIC father-son Kamehameha, and finally the epilogue where Goku willingly accepts his fate, passing the responsibility of protecting Earth onto his son. After all, DBZ has always been heading this way. Let's see what's next and if Gohan is really ready to carry this burden alone.

Goku being there in spirt coaching him throughout the battle was amazing. This whole arc was built off Goku's love and belief in Gohan that he can take the mantle and be Earth's new hero. Love the Vegeta character development as well and he lowkey going to miss Goku as much as anybody, him saying he won't fight ever again he gets motivation from Goku he pushes him to be the best. Goku choosing to stay dead because he wants peace for his friends and family is another thing people criticize him which is insane imo. Love the reactions like Goku you always bring the joy.

AFLO

in the video I said I'm watching the filler ;p

Animaechan

If you decide to not record the upcoming filler arc it would be great if you recorded the end of episode 199 because the last 2 minutes or so is canon content.

Many people don't like Goku dying here but you said it the best like he accepted how things happened. Also the parallels with the future world are so good. Like how we started this arc with Trunks travelling back in time to avoid Goku's death but he ends up dying anyway like even tho everything changed for the better this one event was unavoidable and just fate. And ofc Gohan being the one that ended it all just feels so right

Pokapoka

so good, that scene of gohan and goku doing the kamehameha is iconic, good development for Gohan and Vegeta... poor Chi chi I still feel so bad for her lol
