Wow, just read your notes, awesome discussion. That is what I love about this storyline, and Naruto in general. We see a young 13 year old boy in the middle of a terrible situation and he has to do what HE thinks is right. Kill the clan? Innocents die. Join the Coup and revolt, innocents die. Do nothing ? The fighting will break out anyways, innocents die. The third Hokage had already tried to launch negotiations with the Uchiha but it was too little too late. At that point there really is no universal right answer, since everyone will have reacted to that dilemma differently based on their own beliefs & ideologies. Whose to say which one of us is right? And that is what I love about the show. The world is not black and white, the situation was not black and white. Everyone has strong leanings either one way, the other, or maybe even leanings in a third/fourth direction. But as your discord has shown, episodes like these open a discourse for people to engage in (hopefully constructive) communication with others who might agree or disagree on important topics such as government, oppression, violence, justice, and revenge. (ps. i also can't stand people who deify Itachi but loathe Sasuke,,, you're literally disregarding some of the biggest flaws in Itachi's character. Not flaws that make him a bad character, but the ones that make him imperfect and interesting.)

If you actually listened to my review you’d hear that I said partly, but whether my history was perfect or not I think the point that I was trying to make remains the same. Which is that even if it’s a minority being treated unfairly, it would still be morally right (in my opinion) for a bigger group to risk siding with the minority even if a fight might break out.

I am not trying to argue but Kayla you seem to have a misconception in discussion of why the American Civil War was fought. I know why cuz I minored in history. It was NOT fought over the moral issue of slavery. It was fought over 1. to keep USA as one united country. 2. states rights. The North and South were arguing would slavery be allowed in FUTURE states. The North was fine with allowing slavery to continue in current states that have it if the South agreed not to break away and form its own country. Only after the South started the Civil War and lost, as a prize of winning the war did the North end slavery in all the states. Again the Civil War wasn't fought over the righteousness to end slavery because the North was fine with keeping slavery to avoid a war. Having slavery in all states or no states was the prize that went to the winner of the war after the fact.

A coup is about taking power from/overthrowing the government (i.e. danzo and a few others). That would not *necessarily* mean that a civil war would break out, as danzo speculated. It does not *necessarily* mean that more innocent people would die compared to how many died since danzo ordered itachi to kill the whole clan. I did expand on this in my notes, however. Feel free to find your answers to my thoughts there for the time being.

I just want to clarify a misconception you seem to have about the uchiha plan to stage a coup, it seems to me that you think it was not going to happen for certain. but it was for a fact going to happen the day after they were massacred, which literally prevented it from happening.

I'm just paying to see your reaction not to make you have the same exact opinion as me as some fans try to force others to do. I'm actually pretty impressed you even engage with the fandoms of the shows you watch at all. That takes some real guts.

Here's my two cents on this whole thing. When Madara told Sasuke that "his life for Itachi was more precious than the village" now that Sasuke learned the truth about him, Sasuke feels the same as well. "Itachi's life is more precious to him than the village himself" that's why he wants revenge on the leaf village for what they did to Itachi/ his family and the whole Uchiha clan. Sasuke loves his brother but at the same he doesn't agree with his ideals and what he did. Now i'm not trying to justify Sasuke's actions but i understand where he's coming from. His entire life it's been only about revenge and that's the only thing he knows in his mind. All that hate he had for itachi now it's redirected to the leaf village. A lot of people where thrown off by Sasuke's decision but to me personally it doesn't make any sense for Sasuke to return back to the village. If the village forced my brother to kill his own family and the entire clan i'm not going back to the village and work with those people. That's a stupid thing to do. That's one of the reasons why Itachi didn't tell Sasuke the truth because he knew Sasuke would turn against the village. People forget that he's only a teenager and he's been traumatized his whole life. He's not gonna think rationally. Btw your reaction wasn't boring at all to me at least. From other reactions that i've seen you have a unique style/perspective on how do u feel about a character and i like that

We discussed the trolley problem, among other examples in the livestream on Friday. I said the same thing, as you will hear once I post the highlights of the discussion. I said “I don’t want to convince anyone my way is the right way and you should accept it, but that means that you should not tell me to accept your way either”. We can both only present our reasons for thinking either way. There is also a lot of criticism when it comes to the trolley problem as well. Like it doesn’t take into account how the people got tied up in the first place. In my opinion, the uchiha were on one side of the track and the rest of the village on the other side. It seems to me people want me to cry for itachi and not for the rest of the uchiha clan. And I’m not allowed apparently to even talk about or consider who tied everyone to the tracks and what could have been done to avoid them from doing that. No one just magically wakes up tied to train tracks. That’s what I wanted to discuss in depth and I said at the end of my reactions “I know my reactions was boring but please give me some time to formulate my thoughts and we’ll have a livestream”. That’s all I asked for :) but people still made assumptions about how I feel and what I think even tho I said almost nothing in the videos. Anyhoo, we did end up talking about it spontaneously on Friday. So I will upload that stream at some point and then we can talk more.

Would you sacrifice one person to save five? This is what Itachi essentially did, and these episodes reminds me of a famous philosophical problem - The Trolly Problem. The problem starts like this: you are on a trolly and are about to run over 5 people killing them, however you can divert the trolly path onto the tracks with only one person on it killing that person and saving the 5 but in doing so you "changed" the "natural" outcome since those 5 were "supposed" to die. What would you do? The morally and logically choice is save the 5 and kill the 1, but that doesn't mean its necessary the correct choice. There is no right answer to this problem and no one can really convince you your way of thinking is wrong, just like you can't say whether or not they're wrong.😊

“You could have just said something” lol I literally talked about it for an hour and a half last night in my stream and I also said I was going to upload that discussion for everyone both on twitch and on Twitter I just need to make a stream highlight, download it and edit it into one video bc the stream cut off so the discussion is split in two before I can reupload to YouTube. I also explained my reason for deleting the comment in that video so you got your wish (“if you had a problem with it, you could have said something”). You are just too impatient. from the start (in my reactions) I said “the reason why I’m not saying much in my reactions is bc I want time to formulate my thoughts properly so I will let you know when I do a stream so please don’t be mad before I even get to say anything” and then you comment a bunch of BS based on your misinterpretation of my reaction.

Honestly i find it really shitty that you delete stuff people write. I was just writing down my thoughts down without being rude or anything. That comment had also multiple likes too. ( like 10 of them ) I just wanted a friendly discussion. If you had a problem with that, you could have said something and not just delete it, without a response. Why don't you actually try and understand why he did what he did instead of commenting for the sake of commenting

Just read your notes about this whole story and it's quite interesting for me to see your opinions on it. :) Whenever I see something like this story i try to think "what would I have done". Itachi had a rly bad situation. He was born into a world of war and forced into a situation between two sides. He was also stated as a genius, so everyone had an enormous expection of him. In this case the higher ups of Uchiha and the Village used him and with lesser time he was forced into a decision. Take the side of the Uchiha and fight in a revolution (it was stated that the third Hokage tried to talk with the Uchiha but it didn't help) or take the side of the village and fight against his own family. Of course he could have said "I'm out here" but this would have also been a decision. Either way it seems death was unavoidable. He needed to choose and chose what he thought would be a bit better. Instead of risiking a war, he followed the higher ups of the village and attacked his clan. I think he knew that this was bad, I mean, the worst thing to do, he was prepared to die as a villain and traitor. But would I have choosen different? Dunno. In this case maybe not. He was 13 at the time. Personally I like Itachi, and also the Third Hokage because they are not as perfect as they seemed. Yes they were good people, but they also made some pretty big mistakes. (Like in the case of Naruto and Sasuke) It seems realistic to me (realistic in this world). Alone they could have always wished for the best, but in the end they couldn't decide alone. btw: You shouldn't feel guilty for your opinions, even if they are different than others. As long as you have a lot of viewers, someone will be offended. I don't think i would enjoy watching you as much if you would just say what everyone wants you to. So keep going. :D

In some points I think you're right, but in others I see it different. Don't forget how it was for a 13 year old Itachi (genius or not). He was standing between his clan who wanted to attack his village, and the village. He was forced to choose between them and decided to take the side of his village in order to avoid an all out war. He didn't have the time to think about another way. Also he didn't decide which lived and which not. I think it's more like the Clan or Village choose that. That he spared his brother was more the case of his own weaknes in my opinion. So he didn't spare him because he wanted to, he spared him because he couldn't kill him. Maybe he wanted to kill him also at first or he thought about it, but in the end he wasn't able to. But I agree that he did a lot of mistakes in case of "educate his brother". At the same time you could argue, no one is perfect. So yeah he did a lot of mistakes and in the end paid for it. But I can't see him as an all knowing god who could have done everything completly right.

Also talking about Uchiha discrimination, I do believe that people who rule the village, begining from Hashirama's brother was really trying to made em weak. I mean, I feel that they kinda love power of Hokage that they recieved and didn't want to let Uchiha get same power. So they build up whole discrimination thing just to make sure that Uchiha will never became a Hokage. So that all is about power lust. And ofcourse if anything happened, they would blame Uchiha...case they knew that they played unfairly with Uchiha clan, who basically was one of creators of this village. I mean Uchiha and Senju created it. While then Sarutobi gain his power, and now Tsunade granddaughter of Hashirama became Hokage. While also it should be said that Hiruzen was awful hokage...he let Danzo and others manipulate him, beside his nose Orochimaru was doing his experiments, case of his desicions Neji father died, and ofcourse because of him Naruto is known as Demon, and don't know who his father was, as well whole village don't know who was Naruto's father and mother. So kinda that is just few examples of Hiruzen rule

Kayla, you reaction wasn't boring at all! No need to make fake reaction. I kinda honestly dislike Itachi. I mean what he did has no sence. Firstful he killed his own family. Second, he decided who should live and who has not right to live...and he killed children too, while he sparred only life of his brother. Thirdly, he break his brothers mind, wanted to let his brother kill his own friend, and was leading Sasuke with all that hatred way. So Karma is bitch, and I kinda feel that this is what justice should be...you killed your family, you spared only one life, and bam get what you deserve bitch, you brother is going on revenge mission. And know what? You made him avenger...you build his mind as avenger. So it was obvious that he will go revenge. Also about Itachi's love...I feel that was sick love. Cheers Animaechan! I was going to ask why doesn't anyone question how all those bugs can fit inside Shino. He is not completely hollow inside you know. Shino has bones, muscles, blood, organs etc. But I guess if Orochimaru's multi-headed giant hydra could somehow fit inside Sasuke then the swarm of bugs inside Shino seem more believable. LOL

I have seen lots of anime. The truth about Itachi is one of the biggest and best plot twists in all of anime. Why because it feels like they have been lying to us ever since Episode 3 of OG Naruto when Sasuke wanted to kill a certain someone. Then hundreds of episodes later they drop the bomb about the truth and almost everything Itachi has said before now has a different meaning in retrospect.

The first time I watched these episode I was glad to know itachi wasn’t a villain as the story showed up until those episode because I really like him, his design and his calm badass behaviour and every episode he was in I wished they tell us the real itachi his not a villain as the story said and those episode were even better than what I imagined ,well that my opinion and whether it’s right or wrong I won’t get into it but it a ninja world ,but sasuke decision was wrong from the point of view of that itachi didn’t want him to think like that

I love that Shippudden is like a mystery novel. They try to mislead you, but also drop clues about the truth to see if you can big brain figure it out before the big reveal.
