So to answer your question, when Katara first taught Aang about waterbending she herself was a novice. She was self taught at the time and only showed Aang how to push and pull water mostly. Aang being the Avatar has an innate talent for every bending style so he picked up novice moves very easily. They both progressed as waterbenders on their journey to the North Pole, but Katara's main goal was to always become a master while Aang has been shown to play around during training. In the Southern Air temple, he used to play pranks on the masters all the time with Gyatso and even created an airbending technique because he likes to play around (the Air Scooter). He played with fire and burned Katara's hands and even after that moment he still was shown to play around at Pakku's training by becoming a snowman. Pakku stated that he has the talent, but he hasn't reached the level of a Master like Katara has.

2023-02-04 06:26:08 +0000 UTCReally enjoyed these reactions, I laughed a lot too because I forgot some of the jokes and funny moments 😆 (last time I watched this show was in my childhood) Also the facestealer scene scared the hell out of me as a kid. But looking at it now, I appreciate these darker elements and themes in the story.
