Bonus: United States of Max
Added 2014-07-12 01:48:00 +0000 UTCRemember those sketchbook pages I showed you this week? Well here's a prototype strip that develops that idea a little more. The concept is to take the basic characters of Oscar and Oliver from Evil Inc and re-imagine them as superhero/supervillain brothers. Their parents would be civilians — in fact they would be the only notable "supers" in their universe. I originally envisioned this as a Scholastic graphic novel book pitch, but I'm also thinking about launching it as a comic strip. As for the title, I had "Arch Bros." Scott Kurtz likes "United States of Max." Anyway, consider this a proof-of-concept. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I wonder about that. Is it next-to-impossible to do a comic strip about a young boy without the inevitable "Calvin rip-off" complaint? -- Just like, for years, it was impossible to do a single-panel gag comic without being called a "Far Side" clone?
