AMA — Numbering the Evil Inc Multiverse

It's time for another AMA — Ask Me Anything. To submit your question, please e-mail me at bradguigar (at) gmail (dot) com with the subject line: AMA.

Q.: What is the Earth numbering of the Guigarverse?

Is it 101010? (XXX) Latin
Is it 242424? (XXX) (alphabet)
Is it Earth-69?
Earth-34? (Rule 34)
Earth-72? (24*3) (XXX) again
Earth-19524? (sex)

The idea of an Evil Inc multiverse was brought to the forefront as the old Evil Inc comic strip was transitioning into the current Evil Inc graphic novel. In that storyline — which starts here — it was revealed that the multiverse revolves around a central "hub" universe. And, up until the events of that storyline, the Evil Inc comic-strip universe was that hub.

That was, until the alternate-universe Dr. Muskiday used the Interdimensional Scrambler to replace every super-powered being in his universe with an alternate version that had no powers.

That, of course, destabilized the multiverse, causing it to collapse upon itself. All of this was fine with alt-u Muskiday because he held the Ruby of Ragnoor.

In the end, Oliver used the mystical talisman that gave his father and his grandparents their powers to close the rifts and shift the focal point of the multiverse to the Evil Inc that we've been following since 2015.

Now, to discuss the nomenclature of the multiverse, we'd have to go back to the Aged Mystics of the multiverse. These folks...

Needless to say, the Aged Mystics aren't exactly known for their consistency. Either that, or their logic is so highly advanced as to be unrecognizable as such to us.

Therefore, the hub universe is known as "the hub universe." It is also sometimes referred to as "the Evil Inc universe." Aged Mystics also continue to track the former hub universe that appeared in comic-strip format between 2005 and 2015. It's known by some as "the former hub" and by others as "that other place."

There is, incidentally, an Earth 101010... as well as an Earth-69. There's also an Earth Floyd, and Earth Crimson, and an Earth-Earth. And an Earth-Earth-Earth. And an Earth-Earth-Earth-Spam-and-Earth. Like I said... nomenclature ain't exactly a strong suit with the Aged Mystics.

And with an infinite number of universes to name, perhaps that's a good thing.

Also...

Is the Watcher of that universe the Peeper?

No... but Uatu is kind of a perv.

For further reading...

That final Evil Inc comic-strip storyline has yet to be collected into a book. At some point in the future, I may release the tenth and final in the "Annual Report" series that collected the comic-strip version of Evil Inc. (Starting with Evil Inc: Under New Management, the books are no longer "Annual Report" books.) A final Annual Report would include all of the strips from immediately after Vol. 9 all the way through the end. And they would be presented in their original comic-strip format instead of being re-designed into comic-book pages.

Until then the best place to read that storyline is for free on the Evil Inc website or in Evil Inc Monthly #39 and Evil Inc Monthly #40.

Comments

I love reading these, but I also worry for Brad's mental health as George Lucas has related a story of having an epic meltdown on his staff while trying to film the prequals and marketing staff kept coming up to him with questions like what color was Yoda's blood, or how did Admiral Ackbar use the toilet. It drove him mad.

Mr. Nobody

I think it's universe 80085.
