So... Give me your opinion on discount offers...
Added 2016-01-24 22:03:26 +0000 UTCYears ago, I started running affiliate ads on Courting Disaster. Most of them were for Adam & Eve, but a few were from Eden Fantasies.
In an affiliate-ad set-up, I get a commission for every item that someone orders when they click a link from my site. To be honest, this was never much of an income generator. So I pretty much dismissed it.
However, talking to Erika Moen for Surviving Creativity made me reconsider it. It's a big part of how she operates her sex-education Web site.
So I need honest opinions here...
Are you interested in getting discounts to sites like Adam & Eve and Eden's Fantasies through this Patreon page? This could take the form on a text-only line at the bottom of a site post. Like this:
SHOP NOW [I deactivated the link] Take 50% off one item + FREE shipping + free mystery gift at AdamEve today!
...or it could be paired with a special cartoon that features an item from the store.
- It would be a dedicated post — NOT an add-on to the posts you already receive. For example, it won't appear at the bottom of a random Evil Inc After Dark comic. That way, if you're not interested, you can just ignore it if you're not interested.
- And it would not be frequent — I'm thinking once-a-month at best. It certainly wouldn't be a regular part of what I put up here.
I really need to hear from you on this.
On one hand, my business brain says it's a win/win. You get a discount on stuff for your next Happy Fun Time, and I get a kickback from the company.
On the other hand, my Midwest conscience says that you're already supporting me — way past my wildest expectations — and this might be seen by some as, well... pushing it.
And the last thing I want to do is sour this thing we're building here.
So give me some thoughts here, people! Don't hold back! If this is a really off-putting idea, then say so. If it's kind of a "don't care either way" thing, then tell me.

I appreciate that! Although I'm taking a step back from the idea, I've gotten a couple emails saying "why'd you disable that link?!" So, for those of you who are interested in seeing that, I'm going to include the link here in the comments (where it's much less spammy-feeling). The affiliate link would take you here: http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-7745520-12148042-1425915055000

2016-01-30 13:28:23 +0000 UTCThanks again for all of your thoughtful replies! I mentioned it in an earlier post, but I want to make sure I include it here. I'm taking a step back from the idea. If I do affiliate links at all, it will be part of an Adam & Eve-themed cartoon. But even that's not happening anytime soon. I'm putting 100% of my effort into bringing you as much high-quality smut every week as I can. Everything else is second-place.

2016-01-27 14:16:35 +0000 UTCPatreon page link: fine and dandy. Courting Disaster page link: ditto. All I ask is keeping it off the Evil Inc. page. That one should remain as "all-ages" as possible (at least for a strip that also has an adult-only offshoot).

2016-01-26 02:21:41 +0000 UTCIf it's not an intrusive thing (just some text below the image) then go for it. Given I'm from Australia I'm highly unlikely to ever click on the link as there's plenty of great locations to buy toys & gear from down here (both on-line and non-sleazy walk-in places :) ).

2016-01-25 23:52:44 +0000 UTCAs long as it's a relevant ad and isn't intrusive, I'd say go for it. At the very least, you should give it a trial run, see how it works; I'm sure if it becomes annoying, we'd let you know :D

2016-01-25 17:56:14 +0000 UTCIt's a 'meh' thing for me. As long as they are not intrusive I have no problem. It's the ones that block content until I figure out how to dismiss them or the automatically placed ad network ads (But they PROMISED ME that they only serve HIGH QUALITY, RELEVANT advertising!) that would have me running for the door.

2016-01-25 16:05:54 +0000 UTCI pretty much just ignore ads. As long as they aren't intrusive. It's the video's that start playing automatically and ads of that type that can run me off from a site.

2016-01-25 15:54:29 +0000 UTCProduct placement or you doing the comic for the ad would be great. The product still has to be interesting for me to click, and it's been a long time since I visited Adam & Eve, but mileage may vary.

2016-01-25 14:12:25 +0000 UTCI'm just fine ignoring ads I'm not interested in. I'm much more interested (and will pay more attention to the product) if it is part of a new comic of some sort. Just be sure to also sell the reproduction rights to A&E for their catalog.
