Massive swerve. Straight up I had predicted that Cap's mom was going to be Thea Rhutman in the new continuity, stemming clear back to the beginning when Miss Match found a framed photograph of Cap in Thea's stuff while she was moving into her office. On the bright side, this means we may eventually see an After Dark where Commander Heroic fumbles through re-entering the dating world.

It was the same reason Dr, Haynus disappeared in the reboot. He and Muskiday (and Dr. Vincent, who also got left behind) were too interchangeable. Plus, her death — and the way she died — puts Cap's relationship with his father in a new light...
