So -- I thought I remembered reading Brad someplace (maybe it was twitter) commenting on the discussion Thea had with Muskiday. The items mentioned reminded me of the ending of the miniseries "V" (for visitor) where they were able to make a red powder that was harmful to the Visitors, and they released the powder using many hot air balloons worldwide. As I recall, when it transitioned into a series, the red stuff kept the northern/southern hemispheres Visitor free because the stuff needed to regenerate with cold weather, but in the warmer areas nearer the equator the stuff didn't hold its potency. This is a bit of a reverse from the dialog of the compound being released, but was dormant because it was cold -- but now that Miss Match had a massive "hot flash", whatever it was has gone active.
