SHINee - 'Ready Or Not' Live & KEY 'Gasoline' Live | Reaction and Commentary

Fun fact: A very similar song with the same title, Ready or Not, was also released by Michael Mind Project feat. Sean Kingston: https://youtu.be/oQm98b0bGCM I believe it came out a year later (in 2011) than SHINee’s version (2010), so a lot of Shawols thought they plagiarized SHINee, lol. But it turns out that both songs sampled another track called Girls by a Finnish artist. I haven’t been able to find the name of the artist or the original song, though. It definitely sounds like a late 2000s to early 2010s Western track—especially the chorus—it gives off strong Lady Gaga vibes! 😄 As for the extended part in Gasoline, yes, SHINee often rearranges or remixes their songs for live performances, both as a group and in their solo stages. Key does this a lot too—he did it with Pleasure Shop (his latest comeback in 2024) and Bad Love (2021). You still need to react to both MVs! When you do, here are the rearranged performances worth checking out: Pleasure Shop at Gayo Daejeon 2024 – https://youtu.be/5peIQCkBtb8 Helium + Bad Love at Gayo Daejeon 2021 – https://youtu.be/DcDaa-bCyFo Key is such an underrated performer overall! He’s SHINee’s lead (second-best) dancer, and that’s saying something, considering SHINee has the best dancer in all of K-pop—Taemin. Honestly, Key could easily be the main dancer in most other groups. He’s the ultimate all-rounder—vocals, dance, rap—he does it all. Lastly, about SHINee's sound in their solo work—yes, each member tends to represent a certain side of SHINee’s overall style. It’s hard to say whose solo work sounds most like SHINee or least like it. Arguably, Taemin’s more popular solo style is the farthest from SHINee’s group sound, while Key’s might be the most reminiscent. Also, the SHINee songs that Jonghyun worked on (and there are quite a few) definitely carry his signature touch, which you can also hear in his solo music. If we’re only judging by Onew’s Circle album, then you might be right, but his other albums—DICE, Flow, and Connection—are very SHINee-coded too.

Yeah and some performed for the first time ever like Jump and SHIFT! Shift's choreo and look was especially so satisfying :D (I remember Shift was Theo's favorite song on the 1 of 1 album so you gotta watch it!)

Yes, it is the band version that Key used to perform for his concert (He loves to use live band for his concert). In that ramble part, the audiences would chant together with him (not really shown in this video). I am also excited for their comeback!!!. Fyi, you can watch SHINee concert in beyond live both for today and tomorrow if you are interested. They perform the new songs as well as lots of old songs that havent been performed for quite a long time.

Yesss, SHINee’s BACK with Poet | Artist on the 25th for their 17th anniversary!! Not only is the single (yes, sadly it’s only two songs—the title track and one b-side 😕 but we’ll take what we can get!) named after Jonghyun’s final album, but the title track was actually co-composed and fully written by Jonghyun himself! A Korean article even stated that he had written the song specifically for SHINee, which could very well be true. Another plausible theory is that the song may have originally been intended as the title track or a b-side for his Poet | Artist album, but was later scrapped or replaced by Shinin’ for some reason. If you remember, you reacted to Shinin’—it sounded more like a b-side, but had the lyric “always be with you” repeated many times. That line was likely something Jonghyun wanted to convey to us, and maybe that’s why he decided to leave Poet | Artist off his album and save it for SHINee instead. Of course, these are just my speculations and nothing has been officially confirmed. But I’ve already heard the song (they just performed it at their new concert), and it’s an absolute BANGER! It definitely has title track energy. Spoiler alert: it includes Jonghyun’s vocals (╥﹏╥), so he must have pre-recorded a demo version around 2017—which is crazy, considering how fresh the song sounds! I never imagined we’d hear new Jonghyun music in 2025, let alone OT5 SHINee. As fans, this is truly the best gift we could ever ask for. Finally, SM did something right. I really hope the proceeds from the song's streams go to the Shiny Foundation, as they rightfully should. By the way, they also created five fluffy plushie characters, each representing a SHINee member, named “1st born,” “2nd born,” “3rd born,” “4th born,” and “maknae,” in birth order. The album you saw titled “2nd born” is technically Jonghyun’s version! Another beautiful touch: while each member’s hand is shown holding their own character, Jonghyun’s 2nd born is held by everyone’s hands together. (╥﹏╥) As for why they chose to release the song this year—it could be because 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of Jonghyun’s solo debut (he debuted in 2015). SM also included a remake of his song End of a Day, covered by BoA, and a remake of Juliette covered by WayV (which was the first song Jonghyun ever wrote for SHINee) on this year’s SMTown album, so it all adds up.

This performance of Ready or not is from their SWC2 concert in 2012.
