They mentioned in S2 that back then the mana was overflowing in the atmosphere (this is the main reason for the Goddess Clan vs Demon Clan conflict originally, as both sides want to monopolize said mana), but after 3000 years of peace, it has diffused into all life in Britannia, rather than the atmosphere it used to be in; so back then Humans could ez power up by absorbing said atmospheric mana (each have their inherent caps as stats tho), unlike now after 3000 years
