let's just keep athlete/athletic definitions to what they originally define, which is someone who is proficient in sports/forms of physical exercise. IMO ppl who play esports are not athletes, they are competitors. Yes it requires a great deal of skill, but it is not as physically demanding as playing soccer, football, track, or even someone who sails.

A gamer can be athletic, but gamers do not have to be athletic to do their job. The typical athlete in athletic sports have to have be to a certain extent in order to do their job. The stigma of what an athlete/athletic person looks like is a different topic. Athlete- a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise. Athletic- physically strong, fit, and active. Those are also two different things. Also, Esports can TECHNICALLY be a sport, but it’s a slippery slope to anything being a sport. As, frank said, pornstars can be athletes (even tho most are just athletic or fit/in shape). If that’s the case people office workers are athletes and their jobs are sports. I agree with joe for the most part. Idk this is just my opinion, tbh i’m just bored at work lmao
