Throwback Thursday 8/26 - A Story

This here drawing was my first comic I ever did. Even though it had a small amount of panels it was still rather daunting and time consuming(how I long for those days). Prior to this folks would always ask or suggest that I do a comic. As much as I liked the idea in the abstract, I wasn't confident enough to do a comic as past attempts had failed. But here we had an actual successful attempt in large part because the plot is nonexistent and its just a cute little short comic.

With this comic I wanted to 1) actually make a hot but cute/endearing comic but also 2) show off some fun angles when a fat guy is on the floor. I thoroughly enjoyed drawing bubba from the front facing view on the floor so we can see his expansive underbelly, his fat pad and his manhood thats normally obscured by said fat pad. Its an angle you don't often see in any gainer artwork so I was more than happy to bring it here. It was also fun drawing how splintered the TWO chairs got when they were crushed under Bubba's sheer weight. That's right, thats not just one extra wide chair, that's two chairs to cover Bubba's expansive rear. Actually in most of my drawings I always try and worm in a 2nd chair for a fat man to sit on but it often goes unnoticed because of how large the subject is.

Additionally, in all my works, I take great pains to set a certain tone because I don't think that drawings are ever a purely visual experience but also a mental one as well. The piece should spark and evoke certain thoughts and images in your head. Notice Bubba's confidence and sure-headedness even when someone tries to warn him about the structural integrity of his chairs. But then pay attention to how even when Bubba does fall down and bust through the chairs, he is unfazed. That should tell you this is far from the first time that this has happened to him. He's used to it. He doesn't panic but instead treats this like an expected inconvenience such as an ordinary traffic delay. He shrugs it off and continues stuff his face like nothing happened. As if stuffing his face wasnt what had gotten him put in this situation originally. But he just doesn't care. That's a bona fide confident fat man for you.

I hope you enjoyed this comic as much as I did. Its very near and dear to me because I was finally able to succeed in making a comic where past attempts had been a disaster. Appreciate all the many angles and the struggle that Bubba has to deal with.

This comic is one of my favorites of yours, and to get some behind-the-scenes insight into it was a real treat!

Love seeing past work with discussion around the thought process. Very cool.
