[MHCISQD] Chapter 410: Terrifying Quirk
Added 2023-10-07 20:30:45 +0000 UTCUpon arriving at the hospital, the four of them immediately made their way to the heavily guarded Intensive Care Unit.
At the entrance to the ward, they saw Togata waiting there.
"Renault, Nejire... you guys came too?"
Togata was visibly surprised when he spotted Renault and Hado.
"Mirio, are you okay?" Hado asked with concern, looking at Togata's bandages and band-aids.
"I'm alright, just some minor injuries. Sir is the one who's seriously hurt." Togata replied, glancing at Recovery Girl. "Sensei, we're counting on you."
Recovery Girl nodded and said, "Don't worry, I already have some information before coming here, and a few other healing-type Pro Heroes are on their way. It shouldn't be a big problem."
With that, she pushed open the door to the ward.
Renault turned to Aizawa and asked, "Can we go in?"
Aizawa didn't object and walked in first.
Inside the ward, Nighteye lay on the bed with a breathing machine. Renault and the others immediately noticed the extent of Nighteye's injuries.
His left forearm and hand were completely gone, and there were signs of decay. A thick bandage wrapped around his abdomen, with faint traces of fresh blood seeping through.
"These injuries..." Recovery Girl said with a solemn expression as she approached the bed. "Aizawa, you noticed, right? Shigaraki Tomura's Quirk is much more destructive now compared to the past."
Aizawa nodded and replied, "Back then, his attacks only caused decay upon contact and stopped if they got separated. But now, this decay is constantly trying to consume the entire arm even after separation."
Renault stepped closer and added, "When we almost caught Shigaraki before, I noticed it. It's like he's unlocked some seal, and his Quirk is continuously escalating. But it never reached this terrifying level."
It was the first time Renault had seen the power of the Quirk Factor's drive so horrifyingly powerful when it was separated from its user.
Aizawa turned to a nearby nurse and asked, "Have you tried thoroughly cleaning the wound?"
"It's impossible..." The nurse replied with a hint of frustration. "We've tried, but any surgical instruments we use, no matter the material, get instantly destroyed upon contact. If it weren't for the special medicine we have left in the hospital maintaining Sir Nighteye's life functions, the decay would have spread throughout his body by now. But we can only barely hold it off. The only option is amputation."
At this moment, Nighteye, lying on the bed, opened his eyes from his semi-conscious state. He frowned at the wound on his left arm and said, "It's okay, it's just an arm. Go ahead and amputate it."
"You're awake? How are you feeling?" Aizawa asked upon seeing Nighteye wake up. "Don't worry, other healing-type heroes are on their way. We have time to try other methods. Complete amputation is the last resort."
Nighteye shook his head and replied, "I know my condition. This Decay Quirk is too terrifying. I can feel the constant attempt of my wound to heal, but it gets destroyed in the blink of an eye."
He winced in pain as he spoke.
"Did the painkiller not work?" Hado asked. "What a troublesome ability."
"Sir..." on the other side, Togata said with a self-blaming expression, "I couldn't protect you in time."
"Don't shoulder all the blame..." Nighteye said. "I'm also responsible. I didn't foresee the immediate future. I fell into the enemy's trap."
Nighteye then turned to Recovery Girl. "Recovery Girl-senpai, it's true, isn't it? There's no solution?"
Recovery Girl sighed and lowered her hand. "At that time, I still could control the decay's injuries Aizawa received, but now, this power is many times stronger than before. I'm powerless."
"Don't be too pessimistic. Let me give it a try." Renault spoke up.
At this moment, Renault decided to step in and attempt to help.
Recovery Girl paused for a moment, looking at Renault before saying, "Renault-kun, I know you are powerful, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can heal at the same level."
"No need for any healing techniques." Renault shrugged, and his black wings materialized behind him. His eyes turned completely black as he continued, "The issue lies in the relentless Quirk factor devouring the arm. So, as long as we can pause this troublesome process, we should be good, right?"
With his power activated, Renault took control of the time particles, slowing down the passage of time significantly.
Sure enough, after Renault took action, he could clearly see that the decaying wound on Nighteye's hand slowed down, to the point where it could no longer continue devouring.
'If it can't devour anymore, doesn't that mean now will work?'
As he spoke, Renault summoned a Phoenix Fullbottle in his hand, and the fiery energy gathered in his right palm, inching closer to the decaying wound.
As the flames drew nearer, even the Decay Quirk Factor, itching to obliterate everything in its path, found itself immobilized, forced to witness the scorching flames slowly reducing it to nothingness.
Though it went smoothly, Renault still noticed that there was some dissolution when the flames came into contact.
'To think it can even destroy Phoenix's flames, just how powerful is Shigaraki's potential?'
Soon, Renault dispelled the Decay Quirk Factor and restored the flow of time.
In the eyes of others, only a moment had passed, and Renault's lightning-fast, nearly imperceptible actions had concluded.
Their attention turned to Nighteye's injured arm, finally noticing that the decaying wound had halted. The wound had even stopped bleeding and started scabbing over.
Recovery Girl observed for a moment, confirming that there were no issues. She glanced at Renault but didn't say anything.
She had also heard from All Might that Renault had some hidden cards up his sleeve, so she assumed he had used some special method.
No one else, including the bedridden Nighteye, asked questions. Renault was on their side, and as long as all actions were in their favor, there was no need to worry.
Next, after the attending physician also examined Nighteye and confirmed that the wound was indeed safe, Nighteye was transferred to a regular recovery room.
With the injuries resolved and the environment quieting down, Nighteye began to explain the cause of the incident.
"Due to the All For One situation, we've been investigating the League of Villains' movements for some time now. Just yesterday, our informant detected some unusual activity, so today, Mirio and I went to investigate the area. That's when we fell into their ambush."
Staring at the ceiling, Nighteye continued.
"It seems like that informant has some issues too. When we get back, we'll have to run a thorough check."
