Actually, not only Mikoto but also the other students in the class noticed the resemblance between this girl and the new homeroom teacher.
Of course, there were differences too, such as their heights. In contrast, their white-haired classmates looked more like adults than their homeroom teacher.
However, no one dared to mention this after their teacher had demonstrated her abilities. They could only silently ponder it.
On the other hand, Kiana Kaslana, the beautiful white-haired new student who had become the center of attention, felt pretty annoyed about Theresa being in the class.
Although she was initially unhappy about being sent to Japan for her studies, she later became excited when she realized she could live in the school dormitory with no one to bother her for the next three years.
But to hide her excitement, even during the emotional farewell at the airport with her family, she pretended to be 'reluctant to leave.'
Little did she know that after just two days of happiness, this surprise awaited her.
Her godmother, Theresa, had come directly to U.A. to be her teacher and, even more surprisingly, her homeroom teacher!
Kiana finally understood why she had been sent to Japan for senior high school; it had been planned all along, and someone would come to watch over her.
But that wasn't all. The girl had originally thought that with her talents and her parents' exceptional abilities (her mother being the strongest hero in Northern Europe), she would surely become the freshman representative at U.A.
However, it turned out that her homeroom teacher wasn't the only thing Kiana wasn't happy about. Upon starting school, she realized that she wasn't the freshman representative, and this made her even more unhappy.
Misaka Mikoto, who had been chosen as the freshman representative, didn't know any of this, and even if she did, she would have simply responded with a smile.
It was just that in terms of strength, Kiana was indeed a bit inferior to Mikoto. Furthermore, she had applied to U.A. rather late and had missed the last recommendation entrance slot, so she had to enter as a regular student and take the entrance exam.
Kiana had been complaining about this for a while, believing that her parents had intentionally made things tougher for her.
'Well, setting all that aside, the food in this country is quite good.'
Thinking about all the delicious and varied meals she had enjoyed over the past few days, Kiana felt her hunger returning.
Soon, the new students found themselves in the large auditorium, settling down in their respective class areas.
Today's opening ceremony was different from the past; apart from the new students, the second and third-grade students from the Hero Department had also gathered. It was an unprecedented occurrence.
For students like Renault's class, it was unusual to have such a large-scale opening ceremony on the first day of school, and many of them thought they might be expelled that very day.
Inside the auditorium, the second-grade students of Hero Department Class A had arrived on time and were seated in their assigned spots.
The front rows on the left and right sides were reserved for this year's new students, with the second and third graders sitting on either side.
Ashido sat beside Yaoyorozu, lowering her voice as she asked, "Yaomomo, is Renault-kun going to give a speech today?"
Yaoyorozu smiled and nodded and said, "Yes, he's representing the Hero Department. As you know, U.A. has faced a lot in the past year, and the Hero Department is under immense pressure from the incoming students. So, the Principal approached Renault, hoping he could address the new students, especially those aspiring to become Pro Heroes in the future."
"It's impressive that they chose a second-year like Renault instead of a third-year senpai." Jiro chimed in.
"Hehe, I guess they had no other option." Kaminari from the back row added, "The entire school knows we outshone the Hero Department's senpai. If they let the third-years speak today, it might be fine for the newbies, but if word gets out, it would be quite embarrassing for the third-year students, right?"
That made a lot of sense.
"In the end, it's because those third-year guys are weak. They thought that with the Big Three graduating, they could escape the immense pressure." Bakugo added.
"Bakugo, keep your voice down a bit. While you make a valid point, they're still our senpai, and we should show them some respect." Iida interjected.
"Hmph, they want my respect? Fine, as long as they can keep up with me."
Bakugo seemed to relish the idea of the seniors hearing this; it would give him a chance to put them in their place and stretch his muscles. He had been cooped up at school lately and was itching for some action.
Meanwhile, in the auditorium's backstage preparation area, Renault sat in a chair, reviewing his prepared speech. After ensuring it was in order, Principal Nezu handed him a list of new students.
Taking the list, Principal Nezu confided, "This year, apart from Misaka Mikoto and Raiden Mei, we have some gifted students joining us, including a girl from a prestigious Northern European family, part of a top Pro Hero couple. I'm not quite sure why they sent their daughter here, but isn't this a good thing?"
With a hint of resignation, Renault replied, "Principal, you know, things are already chaotic here; why would you willingly accept a student from Northern Europe?"
"Isn't it because of the incidents at U.A. in the past year, scaring prospective students away? We need a bit more enrollment. My concerns have been validated; this year, there's a 30% drop in students applying to the Hero Department compared to the previous year."
Seeing Principal Nezu's worried expression, Renault understood that a 30% decrease was no small number.
Each year, a significant number of students applied to U.A, especially to the Hero Department, which was synonymous with the utmost excellence for aspiring Pro Heroes.
But now? With a decrease in applicants, it was no wonder Principal Nezu was concerned.
"Well, let's hope the new student's parents won't regret their decision."
"It's all right; they even provided the new student's godmother, who will also serve as a new teacher at our school. She'll be the homeroom teacher for Class 1-A, so there shouldn't be any issues."
"Buy one, get one free? Is this some kind of special deal?"
As Renault opened the list of new students, he couldn't help but wonder if he was looking at a Valkyrie assembly from Honkai Impact.
