[MHCISQD] Chapter 419: Opening Ceremony

Class 1-A Hero Department, the class where Mikoto and Mei belong.

In this class, apart from the two that Renault knew, he also recognized a few faces.

Kiana Kaslana, 15 years old, Quirk: Natural Energy, Monstrous Strength.

Bronya Zaychik, 14 years old, Quirk: Mechanical Composition (Intelligence 180, proficient in hacking, firearms, and mechanical knowledge).

Fu Hua, 15 years old, Quirk: Qi (Ranked first among freshmen, declined to be the freshman representative, low-key in her actions).

Besides these three people's photos, Renault also saw a picture of the Class 1-A homeroom teacher, a white-haired young girl.

Theresa Apocalypse, age unknown, Quirk: Light, Pro Hero in the Northern Europe region, not on the rankings, but her true strength ranks at least in the top five in Northern Europe.

After quickly scanning through other students and confirming that there were no peculiar individuals, Renault turned to Principal Nezu and said, "Principal, I won't comment on the students, but are you sure the information about this homeroom teacher isn't a joke?"

Principal Nezu chuckled and shrugged, "Of course, it's not a joke. We obtained this information from the official Hero Association in Northern Europe. She's a Pro Hero, and it's not uncommon for them to keep their age a secret. Besides, she has no interest in the rankings, and the association doesn't object. But I do know that she's good friends with Kiana's mother, so she can't be that young."

"Tsk tsk tsk..." Renault shook his head while glancing at Theresa's picture. At this age and appearance, she could easily pass as a Legal Loli, right?

Absolutely terrifying.

Seeing Renault's strange expression, Principal Nezu quickly added, "Renault, when you meet Theresa-sensei, please don't comment on her appearance or height. Those are sensitive topics for her, alright?"

"Don't worry, Principal, I know how to handle it."

"Good, that's reassuring." Principal Nezu had confidence in Renault in these matters.

At this moment, a teacher approached Principal Nezu and exchanged a few words with him. Renault knew that the school's opening ceremony was about to begin.

Gradually, the noise in the auditorium subsided.

There weren't many people backstage; aside from Renault and Principal Nezu, there were only a few teachers.

U.A. didn't have a student council, so the opening ceremony was led by the teachers.

After announcing the start of the opening ceremony, Principal Nezu walked onto the stage and stood in front of all the students.

Second and third-grade students were already familiar with the principal, but among the first-grade newcomers, many hadn't anticipated what was so special about U.A.'s principal.

At the podium, Principal Nezu looked around at all the students and began his speech with a smile, thanks to his unique appearance and his witty, humorous style. This made his opening address less boring, and he provided the new students with insight into U.A.'s history and characteristics, helping them understand the school they would be attending for the next three years.

Following Principal Nezu, it was time for the freshman representative to speak.

"Now, please welcome the freshman representative, Misaka Mikoto from Class 1-A, to the stage."

It was her turn, and Mikoto took a deep breath. Encouraged by Mei by her side, she left her seat and stepped onto the stage.

Although she was a bit nervous at first, facing the sea of students below, she had already been trained by Renault and quickly calmed her nerves, ready to deliver the speech she had prepared for days.

Renault stayed in the background, quietly observing Mikoto's speech.

Mikoto was well-prepared, whether it was her speech pace or her personal demeanor; she portrayed everything perfectly, in stark contrast to her usual lively personality.

In the audience, Kiana, who had initially felt that she should be the freshman representative, began to acknowledge Mikoto's performance, albeit just slightly.

Well, just slightly. Deep down, Kiana still believed she was the most outstanding.

After the flawless freshman representative speech, Mikoto returned to her seat amid applause.

Finally, it was time for the additional segment, the Hero Department's representative speech.

"Now, please welcome Hero Department student representative, Renault from Class 2-A, to the stage."

The new students looked quite surprised because, after all, there were third-graders in the Hero Department. How come they allowed a second-grader to take the stage directly?

As Renault stepped on the stage, he wore a relaxed smile and scanned the new students. He noticed Mikoto and Mei, along with the three new students and the nun-like young teacher, Theresa, among the audience.

Placing his speech notes in front of him, Renault didn't rush to read them. He spoke into the microphone, saying, "I believe many of you are curious as to why a second-year is representing us instead of a third-year, right?"

In response to Renault's question, many new students nodded.

Renault smiled and went on:

"The specific reason isn't much of a secret, and you can ask around later; I'm sure you'll find the answer. Today, I want to share some simple things with you, applicable not just to the Hero Department but to students in other courses as well.

The reasons for choosing U.A. are simple—either you aim to become a Pro Hero or you want to pursue a career in hero-related industries. But before that, what you need to do is—"

Renault's speech went smoothly, quickly capturing everyone's attention. But just when things seemed to be going well, a loud alarm rang throughout the school.

The teachers grew tense, and the new students became equally agitated, looking around in confusion.

Renault also stopped speaking and placed his speech notes in his lap.

*BOOM!*

The next moment, the backdrop of the stage behind him shattered, and massive creatures crashed down from the ceiling behind him.

"Ha-ha-ha! Welcome to the school year, everyone! Do you like our opening ceremony gift?" A towering giant, nearly three meters tall, covered in rock and metal, stood before Renault, roaring loudly.

"Ah, what a turbulent start..." Renault muttered as his voice echoed through the auditorium via the microphone. He turned calmly to face the giant. "But it couldn't have come at a better time. We can give our new students their first lesson."

As he faced the giant in front of him and more Shocker Combatmen descending, Renault smiled.

"This is how you deal with villains when the time comes."
