[MHCISQD] Chapter 439: First Day as a Boss
Added 2023-11-23 22:08:34 +0000 UTCSince Renault had to take charge of managing the office for a week, it was only natural that he couldn't continue sitting in his usual spot outside.
At Ryukyu's strong insistence, Renault found himself seated in her office, on the chair that belonged to her.
Sitting comfortably in the boss's chair, Renault spun around and looked at Hado, who was leaning nearby. "I suddenly realized I kinda like sitting in this seat."
"Oh? Are you looking forward to having your own office in the future?" Hado asked with a raised eyebrow.
Renault nodded, smiling. "Honestly, I can't wait to graduate and become a Pro Hero with my own office."
"Well, that's just how it is..." Nejire said, settling onto the office sofa and opening a bag of chips. "Even though the school's not offering you much more in terms of advancement, U.A. has rules. No precedent for students graduating early, and there won't be in the future. So, just relax and spend another couple of years at school."
"Hahh... guess I have no choice."
At that moment, a knock on the door sounded.
"Come in."
The office door opened, revealing a young woman, an elder sister in charge of receiving and screening external requests for the office.
"Renault-kun, I've brought the requests received over the past two days."
"Thanks, bring them here. Appreciate your hard work."
After placing a stack of documents on the desk, the elder sister had originally intended to exchange a few words with Renault. However, she felt the eerie gaze behind her, prompting a hasty exit.
*Thud!*
The office door closed again, and Renault looked at Hado with a puzzled expression. "What was with that look just now?"
"Hmph! Don't think I don't know what she is up to. No funny business allowed, got it?"
"Don't worry, I said it myself, I'll do what I said."
Bringing the documents over, Renault sat next to Hado. He snatched a few chips from her hands and handed her some documents.
"C'mon, help me figure out how to allocate these missions. Don't forget, you're the sidekick Ryukyu personally assigned to me!"
"Yeah, yeah, I got it! But as a reward, you're letting me pick tonight's dinner!"
"Fine."
Next, the two of them went through the missions one by one.
Although the number of requests in Ryukyu's office couldn't compare to those of heroes like Endeavor or Hawks, it was still many. After all, Ryukyu was a Pro Hero ranked on the Hero Billboard Charts, and her 'Dragon Quirk' added to her fame.
With a decent number of Pro Heroes in Ryukyu's office, there were suitable individuals for rescue, escort, and other missions.
As they reviewed the missions, Renault couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed.
"Previously, I hadn't noticed, but turns out, among these missions, quite a few are these Marvel-worthy missions, like finding lost pets or babysitting for someone going on a business trip. What the hell..."
Hado chuckled happily on the side. "It's totally normal, y'know? It's not like serious missions pop up every day. These common ones are the majority in the office. However, professionals like us, with more skills and expertise, won't take up these missions. There are always suitable heroes for jobs like finding people or pets—heroes with sharp senses and intuition."
"You seem to know a lot?"
"Of course!" Hado proudly replied. "I've been studying here in Ryukyu longer than you. I naturally know more! In this field, I'm a senior. If you want to learn, you better butter me up, got it?"
"Butter you up?" Renault squinted while grinning. "Wasn't last night's buttering up enough?"
Whatever Renault meant, Hado got it in an instant. Blushing, she pounced on Renault, playfully pounding his chest.
"You can't just blurt those things out casually!"
"Hahaha!" Renault wasn't bothered by these harmless jabs. Instead, he embraced Hado and unexpectedly gave her a peck.
With her lips under attack, Hado immediately settled down. This move was proven effective against her time and time again.
After the commotion, the two continued to review the missions and distributed them according to the Pro Hero hierarchy in the office.
Simultaneously, the missions were categorized as urgent or routine, with the high-efficiency Pro Heroes handling the urgent ones and the routine ones assigned as per usual.
As for Renault and Hado, they took on a mission that wasn't in the pile but had been sent to their phones later.
It was regarding the assault on the Shocker base.
Looking at the email on the phone, the sender was Nighteye. It seemed he had recovered from his injuries and was back in Pro Hero action.
"Gathering tomorrow morning, right? According to the email, there will be more participants than the last time we rescued Eri-chan, and the heroes will be stronger."
After reading, Renault deleted the email as usual while smiling excitedly. "Looking forward to it. Just wondering if Shocker will detect us this time."
"Probably not." Hado said while shaking her head. "With Sir Nighteye's abilities, he would have predicted it in advance. Like the League of Villains attack before, it was a perfect calculation. If it happens again, he won't fail."
"Yeah, we don't have to worry about Nighteye's strategies."
With the commissions distributed on the table and it being lunchtime, Renault and Hado left the office and had lunch at a nearby ramen shop.
In the afternoon, it was still a series of office tasks. Renault gradually felt the challenges of managing an office.
In the afternoon, there was a meeting with office colleagues, followed by discussions with committee members and dealing with a company that came for a commission.
After completing everything, it was already 5:30 in the afternoon.
Lying on the office sofa, Renault sighed tiredly. "This is really tough. I've decided, in the future, I'll have to recruit more management talents. Being a hands-off boss suits me better. I think I'm more cut out for fighting crime out there."
Hado looked at Renault speechlessly. "I think your office subordinates will definitely have a tough time in the future."
"You can't say that. It's about putting people in the right positions." Renault retorted to her statement, then got up and grinned. "Let's go, time to go home. We'll pick up ingredients for tonight's dinner."
"Pork cutlets! I want to eat pork cutlets today!" Hado exclaimed with excitement.
