Chapter 34: A Calm Before The Storm

Hiding in the corner, Jason Parker watched the upper class below with a hint of resentment and unwillingness in his eyes.

'Why are people born different?'

His family had served the Griffith family for generations, but to Jason, this seemed ridiculous. Old Parker had told him that serving the Griffith was their duty, but he couldn't accept it.

After Old Parker was no longer able to work, Jason inherited his position and became a steward for the Griffith family. A few years later, Old Parker passed away.

Jason still remembered the day of his father's funeral, with a drizzle falling. The old nobles stood there, leaning on his cane, expressionless and silent. He only adjusted his hat after the coffin was buried and the priest finished the eulogy, then left without a word.

To Jason, these nobles were monsters who ate people behind their polite manners. He especially realized this after he took over the affairs of the Orianna. He knew that the transactions of these wealthy people behind the scenes were horrifying.

He was well aware that Old Griffith was not pleased with him, especially in the last few years when the old man often said, "If your father were still here..." or "if it were your father..."

Jason sneered. He thought his father was a fool, but he didn't understand why Old Griffith was always dissatisfied with him, even though he had done everything Old Griffith wanted him to do. Was it because his attitude wasn't low enough? Was it because he wasn't enough to be a real dog?

However, these things were no longer important because Jason had received help from his business partner. The Griffith family business was like a huge pie that many people wanted a piece of. The childless Griffith had said that when he passed away, his estate and ships would be entrusted to Jason to manage, as a way of leaving something to the child of his departed friend. But Jason did not trust Griffith and was afraid that he would go back on his word. So, with the help of his business partner, Jason sent the old nobleman away before Griffith returned.

He thought his beautiful life was about to begin, but he was wrong. Jason had underestimated the maintenance costs of the Orianna, and with only the estate and a small part of the inheritance, he was unable to pay for these expenses. This meant that he would be ruined by this damn ship! However, this was not important now, because this party would be the last one held on this damn ship.

A twisted smile appeared on Jason's face as he turned to Rita and asked, "Rita, what do you think our old master would feel about my perfect plan if he were still alive?"

The maid with dark golden short hair behind Jason said nothing and just stood there with a cold expression.

"Forget it... Why am I asking you? If you were conscious, I'd probably be tortured to death," Jason said, shaking his head.

He coldly looked at the nobles in the hall and continued, "Hehe, enjoy it while you're still alive. After all, this is the last party you all will attend."

With that, he took out his communicator and said to the other side, "I'm heading to the landing pad now. You can start."

On the other end of the walkie-talkie, a man sitting in the control room with his legs crossed turned off the device and casually tossed it to the ground. He sneered, "Did you hear that? That fat guy thought he could run?"

"How could there be a special vehicle for you to evacuate? Clowns like you should die like clowns. Isn't that right?" he said, his face contorted in a scornful smile as he looked around.

The crew, including the captain, were tied up and shivering with fear, too scared to answer.

"Tsk, how boring," he said, getting up and straightening his lab coat. He turned to the people in black ops uniforms beside him and said, "You guys follow me to evacuate. The real show is about to begin."

"Supervisor Casimir..." one of the people in black ops uniforms hesitated and said, "Teams B and C are still in the lower deck. Shouldn't we wait for them to evacuate together?"

Casimir, the man in charge, suddenly turned his head and stared hard at the person in a black ops uniform. After a while, he asked, "Hey...you're a new recruit, right?"

"I joined the organization in August last year," the person in black ops uniform replied nervously.

"Tsk...that shouldn't be the case," Casimir muttered to himself with a furrowed brow. "I mean, you've been in the army for over four months, and you still don't know what you are?"

Impatiently rubbing his messy brown hair, Casimir said to him, "Don't forget, you're garbage, you're scum, you're a sewer rat that can't survive in the outside world. From the moment you joined us, you ceased to be human. You're a thing, you're property, the property of the organization! And you're property that can be abandoned."

"Now, do you understand?" Casimir asked in a menacing tone as he slapped the man's cheek.

"I...I understand!" the man answered, sounding afraid.

"Very soon, this ship will become a testing ground..." Casimir asked with a smile.

"Do you want to leave with me or stay with your teammates below?"

"I want to leave with you, sir!" the man in the black ops suit replied.

"Very well," Casimir said with a grin.

"Then come with me now, but be careful not to get left behind." Casimir left with the man in the black ops suit, bidding farewell to the bound crew members before departing.

"I wish you all a pleasant time soon." The bound crew members stared at him in terror.

---------------------------

Ada silently infiltrated the lower deck of the ship. She had changed out of her red evening gown and into a black jumpsuit for ease of movement. Carefully avoiding the patrol guards, she found that the ship's monitoring system had been hacked.

Despite this, Ada's mission was still very difficult due to the tight security. The defense was too strict. This only strengthened Ida's belief that her intelligence was correct, the cargo being traded this year likely contained B.O.W.

Ada couldn't understand why these nobles wanted B.O.W., but that didn't matter. Her employer, a man wearing black sunglasses, had told her that there was something very interesting in this year's cargo. It was a lost item from the Raccoon City incident, a legacy of the Umbrella Corporation. During the Raccoon City incident, the Umbrella Corporation's Raccoon City branch lost many valuable research materials and experimental subjects due to the sudden outbreak.

In addition, various Umbrella branches around the world had thrown their own products into Raccoon City for testing, leading to a chaotic situation. And now, intelligence showed that the Umbrella Corporation's legacy was on this ship.

Ada's plan was simple, hack the ship's defense system, enter the lower cargo hold, get the item, and then withdraw under the cover of Li Yexing and Lilith. Lilith was a B.O.W. herself, so even if there were multiple B.O.W.s on the ship, it was not a cause for concern.
