Chapter 39: Bizzare Monster

Li Yexing held a gun and looked at the captain who had fallen out of the ventilation duct. Apart from being covered in white liquid and bloodstains, the captain showed no signs of infection.

Then, the cracked shoulder continued to expand and turned into a large protruding mouth. The captain's right side also continued to expand, with all kinds of bone spurs growing from the broken right arm. The sticky white liquid kept secreting from his body.

Soon, the captain turned into a bizarre monster. His body was pale and bloated, standing over two meters tall. The over-inflated body looked very cumbersome. Compared to the entire monster, the captain's upper body had become like a tumor, hanging roughly on the monster's left chest.

The monster opened its bizarre mouth and roared, while the captain, who was attached to the monster's body-like growth, reached out to Li Yexing and Lilith, shouting, "Quick, save me!"

Li Yexing felt his scalp go numb. This monster was just like the first boss in Resident Evil: Revelation. When the monster first appeared, Li Yexing, a middle school student, was deeply shocked as he watched the bulky monster wielding a chainsaw-like structure and charging toward him. The human part of the monster was also screaming frantically, "Mayday, Mayday..." He couldn't imagine how twisted the game makers' minds must have been to come up with such a creature.

Now, watching the mutated captain of the Orianna, Li Yexing felt as if he was reliving a nightmare. He raised his gun and fired three shots at the human part of the monster.

The mutated half-body of the captain screamed miserably, "Don't shoot! I'm human!"

The bloated monster had already waved its arm, which was covered with bone spurs, and charged toward Li Yexing and Lilith, who dodged left and right to avoid the brutish attack.

The mutant captain couldn't control his body and crashed into a row of shelves stacked with food, falling into them. Li Yexing and Lilith took the opportunity to fire several shots at the mutant captain, but the small-caliber handgun bullets were not enough to inflict significant damage on the tough monster.

Li Yexing took out his shotgun, and Lilith also pulled out the large-caliber revolver they found in the captain's room. As the mutant captain stood up, Lilith aimed and fired a shot, and the large-caliber bullet pierced through the human part of the captain, exploding into a blood flower and bits of flesh splattering everywhere.

The captain screamed in agony and covered the wound with its remaining left hand, while the monster turned around as if it didn't feel any pain, wriggling its bloated body and pouncing toward Lilith.

Lilith remained expressionless as she aimed her revolver at the monster and fired another shot, which blew off the captain's skull. The captain, with half of his head missing, finally fell silent and hung from the monster's chest like a dead body.

The monster, after taking the bullet, staggered backward a few steps. Li Yexing seized the opportunity and approached it, firing his shotgun one shot after another at the monster's bloated belly, causing a mixture of white fluid and blood to splatter and scatter under the impact. Finally, the monster could not hold on any longer and sat down on the ground.

Despite this, Li Yexing still couldn't let his guard down. His attacks on the monster relied on strong firepower, but his shotgun did not have enough bullets to spare, and Lilith's large-caliber revolver bullets were also limited. If the two of them ran out of bullets for their powerful weapons, the monster would regain its strength, and then Li Yexing and Lilith would be defenseless. They needed to come up with a plan. Li Yexing carefully observed his surroundings and came up with a plan.

"Lilith, stop shooting!" Li Yexing shouted.

Although Lilith did not know what Li Yexing was thinking, she trusted him unconditionally. Li Yexing kept firing his shotgun at the monster's body until he ran out of bullets. He then kept retreating while reloading his gun, until he reached the stove behind him.

With no more firepower suppression, the monster quickly stood up. It let out an incredibly unpleasant roar, sounding like a baby's cry but more piercing. A meaty sausage covered in spines protruded from its split open mouth, swinging around in the air with its slime.

Li Yexing looked at the monster in front of him, took a deep breath, and slung his shotgun over his back. He then clapped his hands and made a gesture like he was teasing a dog.

Whether or not it was provoked by Li Yexing's taunt, the monster charged at him like a madman. Its tank-like body made the ground beneath Li Yexing's feet tremble, but he didn't move his gaze away from it. He just tensed his nerves and watched the monster charging toward him.

As the monster was about to hit him, Li Yexing dodged to the side. The monster crashed into the stove instead. Li Yexing quickly ran towards Lilith, grabbed her hand, and rushed straight towards the back kitchen door. As they ran out of the back kitchen, Li Yexing caught a glimpse of the monster standing up and turning around. He quickly took out a lighter from his pants pocket, lit it, threw it behind him, and slammed the door shut.

"See you later, you bastard!" Li Yexing exclaimed.

The next moment, with a violent explosion, the back kitchen door was blown away by the shock wave. Li Yexing tackled Lilith to the ground, holding her tightly in his arms, feeling the heat wave behind him, and smiling faintly.
