Chapter 36: Disgusting

Li Yexing's head was aching. He and Lilith had locked their MP5s in the room. Now, what should they do? Just as Li Yexing was thinking, Lilith suddenly kicked the bedroom door open with a loud sound of the hinge breaking.

"So, why did I have to search for keys while playing Resident Evil? I could have just blasted the lock with a gun," Li Yexing muttered with a wry expression as he returned to the bedroom with Lilith.

He quickly equipped both of their MP5s and Lilith, with her dress torn into a short skirt, held an MP5 and wore a tactical belt around her waist, a pistol holster on her smooth thigh, and high heels on her feet, looking like a goddess of war.

As Li Yexing admired Lilith's outfit in silence, Ada's voice came through the communicator.

"Li Yexing, can you hear me? The ship has lost power."

"I know," Li Yexing replied. "Is there a problem?"

"My escape route is blocked. The hatch is sealed, and I can't return to the upper deck of the ship," Ada replied from the other end.

"What do you need me to do?" Li Yexing asked.

"I need you to restore power to the ship's engine room and get the magnetic card from the captain or Parker to open the hatch behind me," Ada said. "You need to hurry. The lower cargo hatch has already opened, but I'm stuck here with the security personnel and those men in black."

"Okay, let's go right away." Li Yexing turned off the communication and looked at Lilith.

"Did you hear that?" Lilith nodded silently.

"Then let's go. The control room and captain's cabin are both near the engine room. We can find the captain or Parker first, get their magnetic cards, and then go to the engine room." Patting Lilith's shoulder, Li Yexing led her out of the bedroom.

He thought that most of the people on the ship were now gathered in the hall, and except for the corridor leading to the kitchen, there were only three entrances and exits in the hall, one on the second floor and two on the first floor. With so many people crowded in the hall, it would be difficult to evacuate in the first instance, and panic would lead to trampling.

It was expected that the banquet hall would soon become the dining room for the infected. His job was to get the magnetic card before a large number of infected people left the banquet hall, restore power, and then assist Ada Wang in evacuating. The plan was very clear, just like playing a game.

These infected people moved slowly, with weakened bone structures. Their bodies would quickly lose water, so they needed to constantly take bodily fluids from other creatures. In the original game, they could move through ventilation ducts and were virtually impossible to defend against.

The two soon arrived at the control room. Li Yexing kicked open the door, lifted his gun, and saw that the entire control room was in a mess. The instruments were sparking, and there were blood stains and sticky white fluids everywhere on the floor.

Next to the console, four infected people were greedily sucking on a security guard's corpse. Their hair had almost fallen out, and the black and red veins on their sickly pale skin were unusually prominent. Their arms had mutated, and sharp and deformed bone spurs tore through their arms, stretching out like branches from inside.

When they heard the door open, these infected people turned to look at Li Yexing and Lilith. Their faces had almost lost their facial features, and their shriveled eyeballs had fallen out of their eye sockets. Their upper jaws were turned outwards in a creepy way, and their teeth had completely fallen out, replaced by several lengths of uneven bone spurs. Their lower jaws were missing, and all that could be seen were a bloody pink sausage protruding from their throats, wriggling eerily.

"Disgusting!" Li Yexing frowned as he and Lilith aimed at the monsters that had just stood up, and without hesitation, pulled the trigger. Bullets rattled out and hit the monsters' bodies. Red blood flowed out of their bodies. These monsters charged at them with a speed that far exceeded Li Yexing's imagination.

"What the hell?!" He kicked away an infected person who was trying to bite him, and Lilith, who was beside him, quickly fired at the second infected person's head. After taking several bullets to the head, the monster finally fell to the ground.

Li Yexing then repositioned himself and fired at the two remaining infected persons. After killing them, he turned around and saw an infected person struggling to get up after being kicked down by him. He walked up to it and kicked its infected head. The monster's head burst like a watermelon, and its red and white liquid splattered everywhere.

Looking at the twitching corpse on the ground that seemed to be melting, Li Yexing couldn't help but frown. "These guys are too fast."

Li Yexing never expected that these infected persons would approach him at a running speed almost as fast as normal humans. He was caught off guard by their speed. This speed was not something that T-Abyss virus-infected persons should have.

Moreover, upon closer inspection, the bone spurs on their arms were also different from those of the Ooze. The bone spurs on the arms of the Ooze were mostly regular in shape, while the bone spurs on these monsters' arms were twisted and grew out like branches, piercing through the infected persons' skin.

"Isn't it the T-Abyss virus, but some kind of variant?" Lilith, who had finished examining the body next to her, stood up and turned to Li Yexing. "It seems that the captain is not among these people."

"Not in the control room? Then where would he be?" Li Yexing furrowed his brows, then he saw the ventilation duct next to him, which was still dripping with blood and milky white fluid.

"Could it be that he got infected and ran through the duct after that? That would be a big problem..." Li Yexing said to Lilith, "Or maybe we should go to the captain's room now and try our luck. Maybe that guy left his magnetic card in the room before he died."

After speaking, Li Yexing walked to the unlucky security guard who was almost drained, first shooting the head of the corpse twice to prevent mutation, and then reaching out to search the security guard's body. He found a handgun with ammunition and a loaded magazine on the security guard's body.

Stuffing the magazine into the security guard's handgun, Li Yexing turned to Lilith and said, "Let's go, we'll go to the captain's room and take a look."
