Chapter 47: Run!

Under the Mediterranean Sea, a submarine was quietly tracking the Orianna.

Inside the submarine, the supervisor Casimir, wearing a white coat and black-framed glasses, was sitting in a chair with his legs crossed, flipping through data on his tablet.

"The second test project is the French research institute's...Elite Hunter Type III? What the hell is this? It's big enough, but it looks stupid," he smirked and muttered to himself, "As the division that inherits most of Umbrella's legacy, they can only produce such defective products. Are the French people pigs?"

He sneered at the new product that the French research institute was so proud of. This knockoff B.O.W., full of imitation, was not worthy of being called a revolutionary B.O.W. The real revolutionary B.O.W should be like the "T-Lilith" created by his division, beautiful, powerful, and perfect without any flaws.

Unfortunately, the security department under the research institute kept a group of pigs, who lost their proudest product, even the only remaining Nemesis left from the Umbrella era was included. Due to the lack of data, they couldn't cultivate the key material NE-Alpha parasite to make Nemesis, so even now the organization could not produce the original version of Nemesis. Fortunately, their partners provided them with some interesting materials, which might be appropriately cultivated and genetically modified to obtain better performance substitutes.

In an instant, the research supervisor's head was flooded with a lot of inspiration. Just as he was about to grasp something vaguely, a person in black ops gear walked into the room.

"Supervisor..." The man opened his mouth, interrupting the doctor's train of thought.

Without saying a word, the doctor in the white coat stood up and kicked his subordinate in the stomach. Although the kick didn't hurt, the subordinate immediately pretended to be in pain and sat on the ground, gasping for air.

Although the current supervisor, Casimir, was exceptionally hot-tempered, he considered himself to be a person who kept his work and personal life separate. After giving his disobedient subordinate a few more kicks, he rubbed his messy brown hair in annoyance and asked, "What's the matter?"

The subordinate in the black ops uniform wiped the blood off his face and stood up, saying, "Supervisor, the power has been restored on the Orianna."

"Restored?" Casimir's eyebrows twisted into a strange curve. He sneered, "I didn't expect there to be rat on the ship. Was it your colleagues who didn't die properly?"

The subordinate did not answer.

"Well, it doesn't matter... their deaths are only a matter of time anyway..." Casimir felt a little bored when his subordinate didn't respond. He waved his hand and asked, "Is the data collection going smoothly?"

"Basically, yes..." the subordinate replied. "But the French Revolution No. 2 lost its life response. It should have been killed by X."

"The French Revolution No. 2? Wasn't that a little toy made by the French pig?" Casimir's face showed a hint of surprise. "Your colleagues are not as useless as I thought."

Although Casimir was not particularly fond of the elite hunter III due to his aesthetic preferences, objectively speaking, it was still quite useful, highly maneuverable, highly damaging, highly intelligent, highly defensive, and, most importantly, mass-producible.

"Never mind if it's gone. Just remember to collect the data. After all, once the Deep Sea Pineapple is opened, all the living creatures on this ship will die." Casimir muttered to himself. "Oh, and remember to hack into the monitoring system of the Orianna after the Deep Sea Pineapple is opened. Because of the nature of the Deep Sea pineapple, we can't inject it with a numerical measuring device, so we'll have to rely on visual observation. If there's nothing else, you may leave now."

"Understood, sir." The subordinate beside him turned around and prepared to leave.

"By the way..." Casimir, who was preparing earlier, suddenly turned around and asked, "How are our torpedoes doing?"

"They are ready to be launched, sir."

-----------------------

Li Yexing and Lilith silently looked at the corpses on the ground. There was no doubt that these guys came from the organization that created Lilith. But why were they on this ship? Did they board before the crisis broke out, or after? Was the crisis on the ship related to these guys?

"Aren't these people the ship's security?" Helen asked as she looked at Li Yexing, who was lost in thought. "They're a troublesome group. They're probably heavily related to the biohazard on the cruise ship."

A surprised expression appeared on Helen's face, which surprised Li Yexing. Looking at Helen now, Li Yexing seemed to see himself from years ago.

Li Yexing casually took down the HK-416 hanging on the corpse, checked it, found it intact, and found that there were still bullets left in the magazine. He simply threw away the MP5 and shotgun in his hands with empty bullets. After searching the corpses on the scene with Lilith, Li Yexing finally solved the problem of insufficient ammunition. He and Lilith each had an HK-416, and there were enough spare magazines to fill four of them. Even the little flower Helen got a handgun.

At first, Li Yexing refused to let Helen have a gun because it was too unsafe. However, Helen insisted on bringing one. Li Yexing thought about it and felt that this child didn't seem to have the need to use a gun. Even so, he still needed to be careful to avoid accidents.

After packing up their equipment, they found a few less dirty bulletproof vests and put them on themselves, Lilith, and Helen. After unsuccessfully contacting Ada again, Li Yexing and his team set off.

Although he wasn't sure about Ada's whereabouts if he wanted to find her, the best choice was to go to the lower cargo hold, as that was Ada's target. The number of infected in the lower cargo hold was significantly less than in the upper-middle levels, almost nonexistent.

Li Yexing guessed that most survivors in the early stages of the outbreak were gathering toward the upper levels, so those infected in the middle levels should also be gathering toward the upper levels in large numbers. This is one of the few pieces of good news.

Soon, the group arrived at a crossroads, and both paths lead to the lower cargo hold. Although reluctant, in order to find Ada as quickly as possible, Li Yexing decided to split the group into two, as there didn't seem to be any fatal threats in the lower levels, and with ample ammunition, it was relatively safe to split up.

"Lilith, you take Helen and go right, and I'll go left. If you find Ada, contact me through the communicator, and we'll meet at the gate." Lilith had no objections to Li Yexing's arrangement.

"Take care of yourself," Li Yexing whispered to Lilith before they separated. Then he turned to the little flower Helen, who tightly held the gun in her hand, and the two of them didn't speak.

"Let's go," Li Yexing patted Lilith's shoulder and said.

As he heard the footsteps gradually recede behind him, Li Yexing took a deep breath and stepped alone into the darkness in front of him.

The corridors in the lower levels were cold and damp, and occasionally there were security forces and lower-level workers' bodies, most of which were in extremely miserable conditions, covered in claw marks, and some were even torn open directly. However, on this road, Li Yexing didn't encounter many enemies, often having to walk for a long time before encountering a lone infected.

'I don't even know where Ada ran off to. It's really giving me a headache.' As Li Yexing was thinking about this, he suddenly heard the sound of gunfire.

Machine gun? Li Yexing was slightly startled, then he picked up his HK-416 and ran in the direction of the gunfire.

The gunshot was short and abrupt, lasting only a few seconds, but it was enough for Li Yexing to determine the general direction. After running for a few dozen seconds, a new intersection appeared in front of him. Li Yexing took a deep breath and quietly approached the wall. When he reached the corner, he cautiously peeked his head out to look at the other side of the corridor.

Good, there was nothing.

Just as Li Yexing was about to move, a figure suddenly jumped out of the darkness and pressed him against the wall, covering his mouth.

Li Yexing was about to push back with his knee, but when he saw the person in front of him, he was stunned.

'Ada?'

At this moment, Ada looked quite disheveled, her face full of tension. She pressed Li Yexing against the wall, covering his mouth with one hand and putting her index finger on her lips with the other, signaling him to be quiet.

In an instant, Li Yexing's thoughts flashed like lightning. He nodded at Ada.

Seeing that Li Yexing understood, Ada silently breathed a sigh of relief. She released Li Yexing from the wall, then looked cautiously at the other side of the corridor.

Li Yexing raised an eyebrow and followed Ada's gaze, but there was nothing there. He looked at Ada with a questioning gaze, but Ada seemed to have not noticed and continued to stare at the other side of the corridor. She made tactical gestures to Li Yexing, indicating for him to watch the other side.

Although Li Yexing felt a bit confused, he still turned his head. However, in the instant that he turned his head, a slender figure suddenly appeared at the end of the hallway in front of him, and then that figure turned its head towards Li Yexing.

"Huh?" Seeing this familiar figure, Li Yexing unconsciously made a sound.

Upon hearing Li Yexing's questioning sound, Ada immediately turned her head, and then her pupils suddenly contracted.

"Run!" Ada shouted loudly, turned her head, and ran. Li Yexing had just thought of catching up, but the next second, the sound of machine gun fire suddenly rang out.
