Chapter 52: Li Yexing...Weird

Li Yexing looked at the open cargo box with a puzzled expression on his face. Although the box appeared large from the outside, it was filled with various instruments inside. Finally, nestled among the instruments was a glass container the size of a two-liter mineral water bottle.

Ada carefully unplugged the wires connecting the glass container and the instrument, took out the container, and saw that it was filled with an unknown solution with a small meatball floating in it, not yet the size of a fist.

"Is this it?" Li Yexing pointed to the meatball in the large glass jar and asked, "Umbrella's precious legacy is a meatball?"

"The intel is correct," Ada replied. She examined the meatball in the glass container carefully, her facial expression indescribably subtle.

"Now that we have the thing, can't we leave?" Li Yexing asked.

"Yes, our next step is to go to sector A in the mid-level cabin. From there, we can directly reach the location of the lifeboat on this ship," Ada said with a smile as she held the cold glass container in her arms.

"I think we'd better go through the lower-level cabin to get there. Otherwise, we'll have to cross the entire mid-level cabin, which is too dangerous," Li Yexing said.

"Good idea," Ada said, "So, does anyone object?"

"I'm sorry, I can't accompany you guys," Rita, who had already regained some strength, shook her head. She looked at Li Yexing and said in an unquestionable tone, "I'm going to kill Parker."

"Well... logically, I shouldn't interfere with you..." Li Yexing said casually, "But I think life is more important."

"Sir, I am the maid and the blade of the Griffith Family. The Griffith Family is already dead in name and reality. At this moment, I am just a revengeful beast. Even if I die, I will definitely kill the traitor of the family," Rita said.

"Are you sure?" Li Yexing looked at the somewhat pale Rita and smirked, "Who can you kill in your present condition?"

"I have my ways. Don't worry about me, sir," Rita said stubbornly.

"Heh, look at you with your high and mighty attitude, looking down on others but unable to accomplish anything yourself. I don't know what you've been through before, but in my eyes, you're just pitiful and weak..." Despite seeing Rita's increasingly ugly expression, Li Yexing mocked, "You don't actually want to kill Parker, because you know you can't do it. With your current state, you can barely handle the monsters on this ship. You won't even make it to Parker alive. You just want to die."

"Forgive me for being frank, sir, but I don't believe a mercenary with no loyalty to their beliefs can understand me."

"No, I understand too well..." Li Yexing sneered. "I've seen many people like you. You talk about wanting to kill Parker, but the truth is you just want to prove your loyalty. Even if you die on the way, you can still deceive yourself into thinking you tried. It's like a kid staring at a book during study hall, even if they never actually study, they can still fool themselves into thinking they tried."

Rita was stunned by Li Yexing's words.

"If you really want Parker to pay for his crimes, you should follow us and leave this damn ship alive. Then expose his misdeeds to the public. That way, even if he manages to escape this ship, he will never be free."

After a moment of silence, Rita sighed and closed her eyes. "You're right, sir. Only by leaving alive can I exact my revenge. I apologize for my irrational behavior. Just thinking about how I worked for that bastard for so long while losing myself is unacceptable."

"Did he sleep with you?" Li Yexing raised an eyebrow and asked.

"Of course not!" Rita sneered contemptuously. "The entire estate's staff knows that Parker has dysfunction."

"Ah." Li Yexing nodded, seemingly having found the reason for this psychologically twisted batch.

"Now that we've made an agreement, can we leave?" Ada asked with a joking smile on her face.

"Let's go." Li Yexing picked up his gun and said.

The group received their mission objective and what they had to do next was to escape alive.

"Li Yexing...weird..." Lilith leaned towards Li Yexing as they walked through the lower deck corridor and whispered softly.

"What's so weird?" Li Yexing felt a bit puzzled.

"Given your character, you should have happily sent the Miss Maid to her death. Not only could it have delayed Parker, but it would have also freed up space on the lifeboat." Lilith murmured, "But you didn't do that. You're very strange."

"Maybe... I might have done that in the past..." Li Yexing said, his face showing a nostalgic expression.

He told Lilith, "I just suddenly felt that whether it's Helen or Rita, they are both like my past. My parents died suddenly and early, and I was forced to drop out of school when I was in my teens. Then I was cheated for my inheritance and thrown into the sea. Fortunately, I survived. I met my first boss and within a month, I went from a student sitting in a school to a thug fighting with a gun. I went through this transformation in less than a month."

Li Yexing's voice was not loud, but the people behind him could hear him clearly. Helen had a complex expression on her face, Ada was teasing, and Rita seemed to be lost in thought.

"So, what they have experienced, I have also experienced..." Li Yexing said to Lilith, ignoring the various looks behind him. "I've been lost, anxious, and even thought of dying in a fire someday. That way, I could repay my first boss's kindness for saving my life. But my boss beat me up badly when he found out about my thoughts. He said he didn't want to keep someone who wanted to die, and that itself was a waste of resources. If I really wanted to repay him, then I should live well until the end."

At this point, Li Yexing smiled. "He was such an unreasonable person..."

"Undead~! Undead~!"

In the submarine, Casimir, the chief white-coated supervisor sat at his makeshift desk, humming along to the rhythm with his headphones on, vigorously shaking his head to the beat.

Faintly, he thought he heard someone calling out to him. Casimir turned his head irritably, only to see his annoying subordinate standing at the hatchway, a band-aid stuck to his nose, looking flustered and opening his mouth, but not saying a word.

Casimir scowled and took off his headphones, then heard his subordinate shouting at the top of his lungs: "Supervisor! Supervisor Casimir!"

"Lower your voice! I can hear you!" Casimir rubbed his ears, which had started to itch from the noise. He picked up a cup of coffee and asked impatiently, "What is it now?"

"Reporting to the supervisor, the Deep Sea Pineapple has been opened ahead of schedule!" his subordinate blurted out in a panic.

"Spew--!" Casimir couldn't help but spit out his coffee all over his subordinate's face.
