[TSSIM] Chapter 508: Kanon's Voice Actors
Added 2025-02-27 21:06:19 +0000 UTC"Oh? Is this a sister showdown?"
Homura chuckled as he saw Honoka and Yukiho wanting to voice Tsukimiya Ayu.
Honoka: "..."
Yukiho: "..."
"Fine! Bring it on!" Yukiho said, refusing to back down.
"Yosh! I'm not gonna lose either!" Honoka nodded firmly.
Seeing them so energetic, Homura turned to Nico.
"What about you, Nico? Aren't you joining?"
"Ayu's the type of girl who's energetic, always smiling, but also clumsy and a crybaby." Nico replied, throwing out some sharp words. "I mean, the first two are okay but clumsy and a crybaby? That's got nothing to do with me!"
"Clumsy..." Honoka muttered speechlessly.
"My sister and I aren't crybabies, okay?" Yukiho's lips twitched.
Upon hearing Nico's reasoning, Homura didn't argue.
Among the characters of Kanon, the one who matched Nico the most was Tsukimiya Ayu, followed by Sawatari Makoto.
However, in his honest opinion, Honoka and Yukiho did fit the role of Ayu better since their energy was natural, while Nico, even though she could act, didn't quite have that same spark.
As for Makoto, he felt that Rin would be a better fit since both were lively and playful, and Makoto even ended up taking care of a cat later on.
Ultimately, there wasn't really a perfect role for Nico, and she probably realized this as well.
"Alright, alright! If you're gonna fight over it, just hurry up and start already!" Nico waved her hand impatiently.
"Okay, let's do this." Homura nodded. "So, which lines should we go with?"
Naturally, his question was directed at Elf and the others, the writers, letting them choose.
"Start with 'uguu'!" Nayuta suggested without even hesitating.
"Ayu's catchphrase, huh... Not bad, let's go with that." Homura chuckled.
Hearing their decision, the two sisters didn't have any reservations about it, or else all their lessons would've been for nothing.
And so, after a bit of preparation, they started.
Even though their voices were different, Homura had to admit that both of their voices sounded great, so it was hard to say who was better.
As they kept going and tried out more lines, in the end, Honoka had the edge.
Yukiho was at a slight disadvantage because she was younger and didn't have as much life experience as her big sister, so her delivery lacked just a tiny bit of depth.
"Not feeling down, are ya?" Homura ruffled Yukiho's hair.
"Nope. I'll just beat Nee-chan next time." Yukiho didn't seem to mind at all. "Besides, Minamiya-senpai keeps making new works, so there'll be plenty of chances in the future, no?"
Hearing this, Homura chuckled and shook his head.
"Alright, as long as you've got a good attitude, I won't worry."
"I'm not a kid anymore..." Yukiho muttered.
"You're still pretty much a kid in my eyes." Homura said, patting Yukiho's head again before getting ready to move on.
Hearing this, Yukiho pouted.
"Congrats to Honoka for winning the first round! Next up... Minase Nayuki. Anyone interested?"
"I'll do it..." Hanayo raised her hand.
Homura nodded and then turned to Kotori.
"What about you, Kotori?"
"My voice has a more distinct tone. Hanayo-chan is a better fit for Nayuki." Kotori shook her head slightly.
"Alright then, Hanayo, give it a shot!" Homura pulled out his phone and opened a recording app. "You already know which line to do, right?"
"Umm... no idea..." Hanayo replied hesitantly before shaking her head.
Homura: "..."
"C'mon, it's so obvious! The alarm clock scene! I've wanted a ringtone of it for so long." Homura exclaimed, looking a little excited.
He had been wanting Nayuki's alarm clock recording for ages, and Hanayo's soft, fluffy voice was undoubtedly just as good as Nayuki's.
Kotori was indeed right.
Even though her voice was also soft, it had such a distinct quality that it didn't give off that completely cozy, wrapped-in-fluff feeling like Hanayo's.
If Hanayo's voice were used as an alarm, it would make people want to sleep even more the longer they listened.
But Kotori's?
For her voice, the more one heard it, the more they wanted to keep listening, but once they did, instead of wanting to sleep even more, they would be wide awakeβperfect for an alarm.
Of course, Homura wasn't going to go the normal route.
He wanted both.
He would have Hanayo record first, then Kotori.
"C'mon, c'mon!"
Seeing Homura's childish behavior, Hanayo gave him a playful glare before adjusting herself and speaking.
"Morning~ it's mor~ning! Eat your breakfast and go to scho~ol!"
Upon hearing Hanayo saying this, Homura's whole body shuddered before he grinned in satisfaction.
Seeing this, the girls rolled their eyes.
"Senpai! I want one too!" Nayuta joined in on the fun.
"You'll get one! No rush!" Homura replied while chuckling, making Hanayo's face turn a little red watching him. "Kotori, you should record one too!"
Kotori sighed but still gave in to Homura's request.
And just like that, Homura got himself another alarm sound.
In the end, Homura thought about it and decided to write a bunch of different lines, such as, "Hey! Get up! Just so you know, it's not like I wanted to wake you up, okay?! They made me do it! Now hurry up and get up already!"
It was obvious who he was gonna ask to record this one, right?
Yes, he had all thirteen voice actors at home record it!
"Homura... Isn't this, like, an abuse of power?" Elf asked with a speechless expression.
"Yup!" Homura nodded without hesitation, actually admitting it without shame.
"Aah~ I got a real treasure~" Homura said happily before putting away his phone. "Yosh, let's keep going!"
Under the dumbfounded stares of the girls, the long-paused voice actor selection process finally resumed.
Once all the roles were assigned, the final lineup was:
Sawatari Makoto would be voiced by Hoshizora Rin.
Kawasumi Mai would be voiced by Nishikino Maki.
Misaka Shiori would be voiced by Katou Megumi.
Kurata Sayuri was assigned to Minami Kotori, and Nayuki's mother, Minase Akiko, was given to Toujou Nozomi.
Misaka Shiori's elder sister, Misaka Kaori, went to Sonoda Umi, and the last role, Amano Mishio, was assigned to Aoyama Nanami.
As for the rest, they would just do minor background characters.
Now that he thought about it, almost all the main roles this time were different from Fate/stay night. Looking at it like this, the only ones who hadn't voiced a major role yet were the third-years and Yukiho.
Nonetheless, that wasn't a big deal, as sooner or later, they would all get their time to shine.
Of course, the girls understood it as well since, with Homura's pace, forget about not getting any major roles, they would probably be too busy to keep up in the future.
And so, after settling the voice actors for Kanon, everyone got back to work once again.

Meanwhile, in the live stream chat of Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, nearing 10 p.m.
[Comment 1: Finally, we get to see those idiots messing around.]
[Comment 2: Hope the voice actors nail it. I mean, since the voice actors from Another Dimension ain't in this, I dunno if they can pull off that goofy vibe just with their voices.]
[Comment 3: You're underestimating voice actors! They can handle any vibe, not just goofy stuff.]
"Even though the chat isn't as active as Fate/stay night, the atmosphere feels way more fun." Eriri remarked with a smile.
"Well, it's a comedy anime, especially for those who've read the manga, I bet they're grinning while typing in the chat." Homura shrugged.
"For real." Elf chuckled. "So many scenes are absolutely unforgettable. Just thinking about them makes me wanna laugh again."
"It's starting!" Homura exclaimed.
Everyone's eyes immediately locked onto the TV, but judging by their expressions, they looked like they were ready to burst out laughing at any moment.
