need some ADVICE

So a very popular company came to me to make a 30s ad for them for TV in the UK. However I am also stupid and agreed to post it on my main channel. After making it, I'm not satisfied with how it came out compared to my usual work, but I am contractually obliged to post it.

So what do you all think, not post it and lose the money, or post and then unlist it after ~10 days.

I really dont want this to be a "stain" on my channel since it is an Ad. And for people to be waiting a whole year and then get this 30s ad uploaded feels like im slappin ya all in the face. Super torn/worried on what to do since what i upload usually takes months of refining/polishing, so i just wanted to ask you all directly

I watch it like every month, you will always be hardest on yourself but you have raw talent and it shows in all your endeavors

Dick Merritt

I really hope you took the money. You've more than earned it

Po.Ta.To

I hope the comments on the video reveal how much people love your content, sometimes even more when it's a legit ad.

Wafflcopterz

Bit late here but--don't unlist, is good stuff even if is ad. Get that reputation up

Grygon

I def understand not wanting it to be a "stain" on your channel (I like the vid regardless). If you don't want it on your main channel, maybe you could put it on your second channel? Or in that playlist of other unlisted videos. I think it should be accessible one way or another without having a direct link.

Daniel Wojciak

If it gets unlisted i'll be slightly sad but get over it eventually but every few months I'll think about it and get a little sad again but get distracted by somthing but i'll remember.

DotWAD

post it my dude, your work is always stellar

SuperDuper

In the end it's up to you, so you do what you feel is right. But I'd love to see what you've cooked up even if it is an ad, and you definitely deserve the money. I don't consider it a blight at all. If anything I'm just happy to see you keeping up creating dope stuff!

DaEvil1

Holla holla get that dolla.

Bones Malones

I'm not sure what restrictions they have for you posting the ad on your channel. If you can't make it clear in the video posting itself why you gotta do it that way, just make a quick video first explaining what's up before posting it. Something similar to the explanation you gave here, maybe with some behind the scenes footage of the ad video as background.

Lou Sciffer

Everyone is right - get your pay day and don't be too hard on yourself.

John Long

Don't let perfection be the enemy of progress!

Brian King

Agree with all the above! Just make sure you say it's an ad, you're golden. You deserve to be paid for your work

Bouphe

Take the money.

Chet McMasterson

If it's somehow clear it's "work I did for an Ad" I wouldn't worry. The fact it's not entirely under your control means we expect it to be different from your common body of work. Plenty of you tube channels do experiments or collaborations like that. If you can maybe even say "collaboration" since that's often a trigger word for me to think "ah right, not the normal style, a weird blend I may not like".

Mason Bially

Get that bread! Don't worry about it dude

Crashsune Animations

Are you kidding? Your body of work already stands as a shining example of what you can do! Posting this ad - while it may not be everything you hoped it would - will show other potential ad people that Brand™ wanted some of your magic and you delivered! Plus, I'm really curious to see what it's like. Maybe you could revisit it and release a "director's cut" later.

Minnesota Riley

Post it, you are too far in! Take it as a learning experience, because it might just be one of the best ways to motivate you to make more content! Maybe if this one gets a lot of attention, you'll be approached by several other companies, then you'll be able to pick and choose something that might fit your style more, so it's more of a win win at that point! <3

James Watson Howatt

Dew it (hoping it’s an ad for Mountain Dew)

Oliver White

Get that sweet bread and share the goods.

Phillip Broughton

just post it and make it explicit that it was done for an ad. Make sure to check the contract to see if unlisting doesn't break it

AsbestosDust

secure the bag.

Rougar

Post it. Something is better than nothing. Getting you money means more videos for us long run. Your channel will never be 100% gold every video, never was. People love it anyway and want more.

Wafflcopterz

Do it! And just throw info in the description. Don't feel like you gotta post the exact same style of stuff always, and also look out for yourself and make that ad money so you can focus on more fun things

Grygon

pretty not ad-y at all tbh, but it is just very different from my normal content (not music based/voices)

An0nymooose

Get that money dude! You have enough gold that one hypothetically bad video won't be a big deal.

Boydacious

Post it dont lose that money over such a simple thing just unlist it after a while

jackterjack

Post it to the channel with an explanation, then unlist after ten days if you really want. You are talented, you should be making money from this. Heck, I doubt you have to unlist it, people won't trash it that bad, I think people will be curious to see what the advert was. Ask the advertising agency if you can include the word "advert" in the title of the video to make it clear.

Benjamin Rood

How Ad-y is it? If it's an ad but also your usual level of chaos I (and everyone else I'm sure) would still wanna see it

Grygon

Bro I’m sure it’s fine. Even if it’s not your best you know we’re here for the long haul with ya. ❤️

mmmeff

Post it and get that bread bestie, we'll understand
