Patreon changes for 2021
Added 2020-12-10 22:12:12 +0000 UTCHello!
I'd like to talk about some of the changes I'd like to implement in 2021. Nothing is set in stone yet, so feel free to leave your own suggestions and feedback on these changes.
Currency
I'm changing the currency of my patreon page to euros in 2021. According to patreon this shouldn't change anything for existing patrons. It'll be very useful for me when I declare taxes in 2022, haha. And makes me less dependent on American economics, which is nice.
Fanart Fanpoll discontinued
Sometimes patreon can be stressful to keep up with. I have a full-time job, and patreon won't be replacing any time of that anytime soon, so I want to make it less stressful on me. I have two obligations to keep up with on patreon most of the time, the Patreon Project, and the Fanart Fanpoll. I decided to discontinue the less intensive Fanart Fanpoll because working on it is less creatively satisfying. I like the Patreon Project as an incentive to work on bigger projects.
Since the goal is to reduce stress, there is not going to be a new kind of art incentive replacing the Fanart Fanpoll. I would still like to keep up the €5 tier, and give it some incentive, but that incentive has to be fairly easy to put together. I'd love to hear feedback from you all on this, what makes a good incentive for you. Some things I've considered:
- .clip files
- timelapses
- More work in process stuff
In conclusion
Less work for me! yay! Of course, I expect this will impact my patreon income, so please feel free to stop supporting me or drop down a tier if the reduced tier incentives make it not worth your time.
If you read to the very end, comment with 'stop talking, start drawing'. (And feedback if you have any, please)
Comments
That is something I'm worried about, but patreon seems to be doing its own conversion, and the example it showed me, is a 1:1 conversion between euros and dollars. I don't want to actually push the currency change through until the very end of the month so I can't confirm how accurate that example is. Also, changing prices on tiers is the absolute worst so I'd rather avoid that if reasonable.

Perhaps reducing it to four euros would be a good plan?
