I totally agree it is a societal issue. That's why it is such a powerful force that it can ruin lives. In the BL and K,JPOP worlds toxic fans, though the minority, dominate because they are the loudest and scariest to corporate interests. But the corps. foster this by insisting on selling fanservice as a money-making platform and promoting their talent as "real" couples. The whole MewGulf fiasco is a prime example where the actors did such a good job of pretend that it even fooled many skeptics and certainly devastated their fandom later. But the money it must have raked in! It's a toxic feedback loop. But because it is such a powerful force, fighting it can ruin lives even more so, and not just the individuals but those of their colleagues. I am grateful at least that Lovely Writer is calling this stuff out. Though in bittersweet irony, Kao and Up are still trying to milk their ship for all its worth for the sake of their careers. And more power to them in the world the way it is.

I understand what you mean but it shouldn't be like that. Fans shouldn't have a say in the relationship of others. They should be smart enough to not judge a relationship they don't have any right to judge. We shouldn't chose between work and love. In their case, the reason of their break up was so unreasonable. Both of them can work and be together just fine. So I just don't understand why in real life and not just in the drama, it's a problem. If it is, it's because there is a problem with the society and the people leaving in that society. When people make sacrifices, it's often a sign that something's not right in the country we live in. Take, for example, women who give up their careers to support the men they love. It might seem like it's purely about love, but there's more to it. Society kind of pushes them into these choices. I have this Japanese friend I talk to a lot about this stuff. She tells me that in Japan, people work so much that deciding to have children isn't a simple thing. It's like, if they do decide to start a family, it means one person in the couple has to give up their job to take care of the child. And you'll often see that it's the women who end up making this sacrifice. It's not just about personal choice; it's about the way Japanese society is still pretty traditional, favoring men in terms of pay and opportunities for leadership roles. So it's not just about individual decisions – it's about how society shapes those decisions. What you said if the truth, it's just a shame that it needs to be this way. We've got to work towards a society where people don't have to make such tough sacrifices just because of unfair norms and expectations.

Gene paid Nubsib back for Korn and In (UWMA joke). As for Gene's decision, I think Gene knows that Nubsib can't control himself and they can't just pretend to be apart (Nubsib was responsible for many of the pictures and situations that got them into trouble in the first place because he was so uncaring about everything in real life beyond their love). I think this is the age difference showing. Gene's brain has fully developed and he can see beyond emotions that not only their careers but the careers of many other people are at stake at the moment. Writers and actors rely on lots of people to succeed, and lots of people rely on them in turn. If a publishing company takes too much of a hit, it's not the bosses that will lose out. It's staff that will be fired. If they smooth out the situation, sales will resume. Maybe it is because I am old, but I think that sacrificing everything for love will eventually make you blame and hate that love as time goes on. Think of the lives of countless women who threw away their own careers to follow and support their men out of love, only to end up with regret. Frankly, careers last longer than most loves in real life.
